Maybe this thread's title should change to: "well, maybe when I return from summer vacation". This had me laughing all afternoon. Maybe after next Halloween? Perhaps if there is a snow day, someone can start a "get to know your fellow ALJ applicants" quiz. We can come up with questions that do not relate to the job, things like favorite color, favorite book, favorite TV shows. I know, I know, I can be very "campy" sometimes! At least I am not still asleep from the night that I posted that I was hoping to wake up to some new information about the ALJ exam!!!! I took the liberty of preparing a series of polls to teach us a little something about our peers. Did you know that as of right now, 50% of poll responders own horses and 25% was an organ donor? I haven't decided (or been told) if my polls will rival the MMPI for breadth; but I'll try to keep it manageable. Using my inchoate statistical skills, I will masterfully jump to all kinds of conclusions about us, and post them here for your amusement (or irritation). So make your vote(s) count! Propmaster

As you can tell, I really have nothing valuable to post. So, enjoy this wonderful version of the classic tune.

Preliminary results from the polls about US:
Favorite color: Blue/Cerulean leads with a whopping 44% of the vote! Red/Magenta/Crimson/Burgundy follows with 19%; then Purple/Indigo/Violet/Plum with 11%.
Favorite TV Show: In the most poorly conceptualized poll (it was first, so I learned from it), Modern Family is the most beloved named show, while 37% of board members prefer a show that was not listed. Skipping the "other" category and those without TV or who rely on Netflix, the most popular genres are Comedy (33%), Mystery/Police Procedural (22%), Reality (17%), Sports (11%), Drama (11%), and News (7%). (*** genre judgments subject to alternative interpretations; total may not add to 100% due to rounding).
Reading material: We seem to have rather vanilla reading habits, with emphasis on non-fiction (with biographies and newspapers being the most read specific items chosen). At least two of the responders (about 6.5%) do all of their reading via electronic means, which would mean those people have ideal skill sets for being ALJs in the electronic environment that exists (or is envisioned).
As for the random questions: 34% of us have eaten octopus. I think that must be more popular in some areas of the country than where I come from! More than twice as many people have walked to a store to get candy than go to the gym at least twice a week. At least 3 great-grandparents are on our list (congratulations!).
A whopping 41% of us have or had a long-distance relationship. I wonder how many of the respondents have or had that due to moving to be an ALJ?
More of our board members can darn socks than contribute to or own a blog, and only one person cops to wearing body paint.
Only one poor soul admits to severely sunburning an unusual body part, which is only one-half as many people as can use a slide-rule. The single most unifying thing we can say about ourselves (other than an interest in ALJs) is that 76% of us have been to a museum in the last 12 months. (Although it could be inferred that 100% of us know what a philodendron is, 100% of us used college-ruled notepaper at some point, and 100% of us have never had our stomachs pumped).
Only 3% of respondents claimed to like polls less after slogging through these questions, which means there is a good chance (say, 67%?) that more will be added if we don't hear something soon...

I didn't have my glasses on when I took the poll, and I thought it said - Do you own a house? I own a house but not a horse. However, I really did donate an organ.

Now that a dual citizen has checked in, we're looking for a former professional athlete, a world traveller (or two), and someone who's never had a passport.

Our nation should be comforted with the knowledge that people seeking ALJ positions have not had their stomachs pumped.
