Howdy. I'm one of those who retook the SI and WD in a successful effort to raise my score. Will I get another interview in Falls Church? I'd certainly like the opportunity, since they didn't see fit to hire me the last time. Will I get a second chance to make a good impression?

So, if the score and the interview combined didn't result in an offer the first time, and you don't get a second interview, I'm puzzled-- why would someone try to raise their score, when they won't get a second interview? (especially if, when it comes right down to it, it's the interview that determines who gets hired, and the score doesn't matter so much except to get on the cert)

Raising your score couldn't hurt. If nothing else if everything was equal between the candidates for an opening the higher score might be a tie breaker. Also, if the registry doesn't end in October, it would help you make the smaller certs in the future. But I agree, raising your score isn't going to make SSA like you that much more after the interview and if what folks who have made it through say is right, once you make the cert the biggest factor is what the hiring panel thinks of you and not what your NOR came out to be.

There are people who have tested twice, interviewed once, and are now ALJs. Do not give up hope.

I know of people of whom the PTB said we really wanted X but the score was too low to reach, so if they liked you before but couldn't reach you, a better score may be all it takes to get an offer!

Ladywordsmith you are exactly right about a higher score helping get selected. But I don't know if you had a great interview or not. lol. So I would say if you have a significantly higher score this time around your chances are much greater (unless of course you really bombed the interview).
