An applicant with a 10-point preference may submit an application outside the normal window, and the points are added to the final score as described in other threads. But does the preference have any effect on the process in between? That is, are there any WD and SI schedules outside of when OPM sets them for those who have scored well on the AR, or are veterans placed in the pool of applicants waitng for the next cycle? Are WDs and SIs scheduled only following an announcement and application window?

See 5 C.F.R. ยง 332.311. If you applied now, and you scored well enough, they'd have to offer you a WD/SI by the end of September since that's the end of the following quarter. A nice benefit, and you earned it the hard way.

I thought the "action by the end of the following quarter" rule applied only to scoring the AR. Thanks, and thanks for the link.

Question for those of you who claimed Veteran's Preference. My original score did not include the 5 points. I notified the ALJ help desk and had my score bumped up 5 points. This occurred last Friday and my score is now 60 and change.
My understanding is that applicants with scores of 59 and 60 have received certs. However, I have not received one. I am wondering why-especially since my geographic availability is very broad. I am thinking the delay could be caused by the fact that my grade was amended. I notified the help desk about all this but have not yet heard back. On the other hand, maybe I just didnt' make the cut.
Have any of you run into this problem-ie a delayed notification due to an amended score due to VP? Thanks.

I would contact OPM immediately, identify the issue, and ask that your name be provided to ODAR immediately before the interviews commence. Given the holiday weekend, I would treat this as an evolution to be completed today. [/size]

As you have already contacted the ALJ help desk I'm not sure how else to touch base with OPM. Another thing you can try is to contact Bob Gehlken at SSA at 703-605-8448 and ask what the cutoff score for the cert was. If you new score is above that and you have cities on the cert, advise Bob and he may have a more direct channel to OPM to get your name on the cert.
