Not to get too far ahead of myself, and I tried to do a search but was not readily successful. But in the past has there been a standard manner for job offers to be made? Either over the phone or e-mail? Seems like by now I've provided them every conceivable phone number, e-mail address, and mailing address at which I could possibly be reached... Just curious, mainly because I have a trip planned for early August, and am wondering what I'll need to check. From what they said at the interview, they were going to want a pretty quick acceptance/rejection. I think they said 24 hrs. Also, am I correct in assuming they do not communicate rejections?

Offers are often made by email but may be by telephone. They sometimes are made to a number or email that has not been used before in the process, so check them all. It can take a while because everyone is called or emailed individually. Keep your eyes on the Board and you will know when they start coming out. Rejections are communicated but later. Good luck everyone!

Cool. I figure results can't be made known before I leave on this trip, as that would avoid making things as stressful as possible planning and preparing for this trip! In fact, I now realize that I know the exact date on which offers will be extended, because there is a particular period during this trip that I will be extremely limited in my access to communications!

A word to the wise about this vital communication based on our experience during the last round and not meaning to start a stampede to check records are correct.
A vmail offer was left on Friday March 26 at 1655 hrs on a telephone number rarely accessed in this household (it happens to be my business fax line). After a very busy weekend hosting a running friend's memorial service and hearing nothing from SSA on cell, email, or home phone; the conclusion was no offer.
Picking up the vmail offer on Sunday night was pure luck. The message politely requested an answer by ETB Monday. During subsequent correspondence about relocation packages it transpired that the only email address recorded was incorrect.
There again, last year Legal Beagle (where are your helpful posts now?), got her offer in person on the golf course!
Good luck to all that are interviewing for the next round of offers.

I received the offer by phone on a Friday evening. I am not aware of anyone in my class of new judges who was notified by email. Some were left messages on voicemail.

Last June, I was called with an offer on the telephone number I listed in my application materials (my cell). I do not know if they would have followed up with an e-mail offer or not, but I have not heard of anyone getting an offer via e-mail. It was surprising to me because I thought they would use e-mail for documentation purposes.

bowser: in all probability if you get an offer it will come before August 1.

For the first big hire in early 2008, offers went out by email. The second in 2008 may have been by email, but all subsequent offers have communicated by phone. Candidates not selected got emails a month or three after the offers were made.

Be careful. I received my offer on Thursday to my office phone. I was out of the office and did not come back until Monday. They did not call my cellphone, despite having used my cell to set up my interview.

Glad you brought this up bowser.
I have a related question: when you are told about the offer, what details about the offer do they give you? Do they tell you the location and the salary?

You will certainly be told the location with the offer. I don't recall any discussion about salary with the offer but that info is on the Internet. People going to more expensive cities get a little more money - refer to discussions about locality pay on this site or use google.
