Ironically, even though the "entire" internet is down at our work today, THIS site can come up. So, this is a sure sign that offers will come today through email (since I can't get to it) and folks will start posting that they're getting offers/rejections just to torture me.

I'll check the other threads as well, but as long as we're here: is the offer specific re starting salary? I'm already a 14-10 and want to make sure I start above that; also, do they expect an instant response?

The offers haven't gone out via email since 2008. Safe assumption that the offers will go out via phone call. Be careful to monitor home, work, and cell phones. I've heard of offers coming via all three. Mine was by cell.

It raised the point that you are not going to take a cut, and the very good point that no other fed jobs have the kind of salary increases the ALJ position has. And, there are numerous threads indicating that no, they do not require an instant response.

When one of my colleagues received an offer way back when, he received a phone call notification and then a formal offer in a packet mailed to him, so he did not have to reply that instant. From SSA's notification to us, I recall it said something about adjusting salaries for current federal employees. I'm also a 14 so if, God willing, I get an offer I hope not to take a pay cut. Good luck and let's hope we find out soon.

Is it possible to receive an offer for more than one location on your GAL?

Is it possible to receive an offer for more than one location on your GAL? Technically possible, but won't happen. The whole process that allows ODAR to delve deeper into the certificate is predicated on people receiving limited considerations for a particular location.

Touche. Practically, I have never heard of anyone getting more than a take it or leave it offer with a single location, and I been following this for a long time. So if you're lucky enough to get the call, decide whether you want to go to the location offered. Don't bother trying to bargain because the location is not negotiable. However, which class you end up going to might be, if you have a very good reason.

Do nonselectees get a call? a letter? Does it come much later or close in time to when selectees are notified? HI! Marcia Brady here...geez Louise, I've received lots of rejection letters...sometimes weeks and sometimes months after my "non-selection"... A few of the rejection letters were so late, in fact, that I had actually forgotten about it!!! Stay cool. Peace... Marcia B.

Just to stay on topic, I thought I'd repost what I said on another thread here:
I was told offers would be emailed to us on this Thursday so check phones and emails.

OPM rules regarding promotion require that your new pay is at the next rate up from your current grade. e.g., if ALJ step 1A is less than GS 14 step 10, you should start at AKJ step 1B. ALJ pay is pegged to SES at a % until you reach the legal cap, which I believe is about $165K right now.

I doubt the offers will come by email. the call system has worked well for them, whereas the email system hasn't. However, those choosing are new and different from the last several selections.

I would expect phone calls as well. It's more reliable, gets quicker responses for those you reach on the phone who are ready to accept, and on the whole is probably LESS time consumng than sending individual email and going back and forth with each of those.
