My application status states: "external assessment due 4/24/15 12:00 AM." Any thoughts on what that means??

I am thinking that we will be getting the email to take the online portion of the tests prior to April 24, and that those tests would need to be completed by then.
But I am brand new to this, too, lol.

Did you notice that the date was 2015? Perhaps that is when the application expires?

Yes I thought it meant taking the tests, and I was excited that I made it past the first hurdle, until I noticed 2015. That is what threw me. justamessenger, do you have the same status?? Or anyone else that has applied this time - what is your status message?

That is interesting. My status reads: "Pending HR Specialist Action." However, when I expand the vacancy checklist, I see the same external assessment due date under the assessment part but under the Application Processing Status section at the bottom it says: "Pending HR Specialist Action." My guess? The "external assessment" that is to be done before the close out of the hiring process is OPM's way of saying they will contact references and or do a background check if you pass the test and make a certificate/get selected. That's my guess and I admit I am speculating here.

I agree, we're all in a holding pattern waiting for our emails for the online tests, I guess.

My interpertation of "Pending HR Specialst Action" differs from yours, superbonbon. I don't think they've made the determination that any of us have "successfully completed this part of the application." I interpret that status message (which I also received) as simply a confirmation that the applicant has submitted an application. I think lots of people may be weeded out at this stage because it is ultimately determined that they did not successfully complete the application, because of a missing bar licensure date, for instance. I agree with justamessenger that we are in a holding pattern. But, I think some will get emails for the on-line tests and some will get emails telling them they have not successfully completed the application (even though they submitted one in timely fashion) and, thus, will not be invited to participate in the on-line tests.

I agree with stljoe. I got the Pending HR Specialist Action right away at 10 pm Sunday night. There's no chance my application was reviewed and given the green light in mere minutes. I just think it means that the application has been submitted and needs to be reviewed ( the "HR Specialist action").

yes just to clarify, mine too has the pending HR specialist action in one place, as well as the 4/24/15 date in another. I got both of the changes almost immediately so I deem it to be nothing more than they actually received something from me. It was that 2015 date that threw me for a loop - but I think I remember reading somewhere that this register is good until 2015 so I guess it's tied to that?? I wish they only took so many apps like before and cut it off - this waiting is killing me

Help, there is a discrepancy between the application status on USA JObS (where it reads undetermined) and on the application manager (where it shows my resume and app is ok), Why is there a discrepancy and does not matter?

Not sure, mine on USAJOBS states: application received. Did you get a confirmation email from the application manager confirming receipt of your application??

I assume we won't receive the email concerning the online testing until after March 15th right?

Then drfranks I wouldn't worry at this point, you have confirmation that you applied --- unless you think you missed something in your application process. But I am a newby so don't listen to me LOL.

dreamer - I think I read in the application instruction that we would receive an email if we made it past the first hurdle. I assume they aren't even going to review our apps until after closing date so after the 15th would be my guess.

If i remember correctly, during the last exam, it was at least a couple of months before we were advised we had qualified to move on to the next step. Given how long they are leaving this new announcement open, i suspect it will take some time to rate all of the applications. Wish someone would start a poll to guess how many applications will have been made by the close of the exam announcement .

OK, I'm stumped. I just submitted my application. I answered all the questions and uploaded my resume. My status shows as complete (it just shows a due date for the external assessment and that I'm "pending HR specialist action," which others have mentioned). But I never got prompted for my AR. Is my application not complete, or are they not requiring ARs anymore? Maybe the info I read about the requirement we submit an AR is dated. Does anyone know what's up? Thanks for your help.

Yes this go-round apparently is completely different than years past, from what I have read on this board. At this point, all you need is your application, resume, and veteran docs if applicable. If you meet the first hurdle (which seems to be just the 7 years experience and licensed) then you receive an email to take the computer based tests. If anyone else disagrees please let me know. I am new so this is based upon what I have been reading as well as talking to other ALJs that I know. Thanks!
