That is interesting that the individual offices do not select their ALJs. How does one receive job offers from the cert list? If this is written somewhere, please let me know so I do not have to bother all with redundancies. Thanks. There is a search function on this board that may help and the instructions are on the first page under Search Functions 101, and many of the general questions are on the first page of the General Board under the hyperlinks on ALJ Hiring FAQ. It may be a benefit to read through some of those first.

It is explained elsewhere in any of the threads about offers, but it's easier to just answer the question. You get a phone call from Bob Gehlken or one of his assistants at ODAR in Falls Church, offering a position in a specific city.

So they call whoever you identify? Do they have to be former supervisors? You provide the references, yes. Your current supervisor is included, although you can ask that he or she not be contacted. You then list a reference for any other job you've held in the last 10 years. Then you provide three judicial references, three "adversary" references, if you have them, otherwise you can name other professional references, and three other professional references who are familiar with your work history, experience, capabilities, etc. Yes, reading through the stickies at the top may help with some of this information. The process hasn't changed much.
