I would suspect there WILL be an opening at the Philadelphia East office, because that HOCALJ is leaving in a week--presuming the Agency will be filling that vacancy. However, I know there is at least one individual on the transfer list for Dover--meaning it is unlikely there will be a brand new ALJ posted there any time soon. Good luck to everyone waiting to be hired. Been there, done that myself.

There are advertised HOCALJ vacancies in Philadelphhia East and South Jersey. If they fill those vacancies by ALJs from those offices, there will be vacancies there. If the replacements come from other offices, then there will not be vacancies in those offices. In addition, there is someone on the transfer list for both of those offices. As to Dover, there are several people on the transfer list for that office.

Noah's GAL appears to be complete. It's the same mine. Anchorage is the only location that I previously eliminated.

We could use a poll on scores of those who were notified for this cert. I admit to being clueless on how to do this Would someone with the skills help out please? Thanks!

I thought I greatly expanded my GAL but have only a limited number of cities that appear on it. (my inclusions were mainly east coast cities that apparently have no openings ...) Of those that appear, some have already been discussed here (Richmond, Dover, Philly, South Jersey, etc) but there has been no discussion regarding Albany. Does anyone know if there are any actual openings there or whether there are any left on the transfer list for this city?

Last year, I did not have to submit the alj candidate personal history form since I had previously submitted one. This time, i have to submit one. Does that mean they plan on recontacting references?

I would say yes. They have recontacted them, at least some of them, even when a new form didn't have to be resubmitted.

Ditto = Same wide-open GAL as Noah, Maybe, and Buffalogal
FYI - I spoke with my two SSA ALJ references today who were surprised that ODAR is hiring but agreed with a small class size of 25.

FYI - I spoke with my two SSA ALJ references today who were surprised that ODAR is hiring but agreed with a small class size of 25. Mystery ... if the plan is to hire about 25 ALJ's, why do we have 42 cities? Even if ODAR wanted one per location, that's 42. If the plan is to hire 25 ALJ's, why do we have 400 plus identified candidates based on the poll, which does not consider folks who do not use this forum? I am just saying these numbers are puzzling.

How do you figure we have 400 plus identified candidates based on the poll? I think you have about 48 candidates based on the poll and those candidates have overlapping cities equalling over 400 places on the GAL. This is a strange Cert and it wouldn't surprise me to have 150 people on the CERT and then to pick 20-25 for offers. Interesting will be how the high number of 10 point veterans play into all of this..

I put down all areas for the GAL, 42 of them. I am unsure how many people they plan on hiring actually. Have never gotten to point where I have an interview with SSA either. I am quite certain that ODAR has a class scheduled in Falls Church for July 2013, so something is moving along.
