The intial e-mail said they would contact you if they did not receive a response. I don't think you have anything to worry about.

Thanks for the info! I was interviewed previously, and this is my third go-around with the certs. However, I probably didn't turn in my docs. as early as most people this time, which is probably why nobody's been called yet.

I've stayed off this board for a while, mostly for my own peace of mind. I have received the same GAL as Noah and others. I said yes to all. Eugene is the location I'd prefer, though I have family in St. Louis MO, and Albany, NY is a short drive from Vassar (my undergrad). C'mon, what federal judge would not love to spend weekends in the "city of sin" aka Poughkeepsie?!! Region 9 is not on the list because ALJ King continues to insist we don't have enough work at present - so there is no rationale to hire more ALJs (and so far as I know, this is not a secret - this is what he has stated at various meetings).
I am supposed to be in Europe for 3 weeks in August - September 2013. What am I going to do if I am supposed to report to a new hearing office by mid-July?! My cousin had such a great slant: she said, if you get it, you'll be a judge, and if you don't, well, you be summering in Europe. Hard to mess with that kind of logic. Meanwhile, I've been stressing how on earth I am going to deal with moving 6 cats across the country if I get MI, MO, PA, NY, or just about anywhere else (ok, just breathe, and call your friends with the plane - and beg - a lot)... And if it doesn't happen, I still am driving 200 miles / week, commuting to my current SAA job, living in my house, with only a slightly upside down mortgage, waiting for the #*&%^&@&^%$*%(*$*##&^% banana trees to produce fruit already...

Wow! I didn't know that mentioning Nebraska could stir such emotions!

I made the March cert, submitted all requested forms, but have not received any e-mail acknowledgment from OPM/SS. Did anyone receive an acknowledgment after submitting the forms? None of my references have been contacted, although they were all contacted a year ago.

I did not get an e-mail confirmation. It does not appear that they are contacting all candidate references; it probably depends on when the references were last called, but I'm just guessing.

In the past, there was NO email acknowledgement that the document sent in were received. The email notifying of the cert says they will contact you if they DON'T receive the forms.

I made the March certification. I have never had the actual SSA interview in past. In response to other questions posed: I did not get an email confirmation as to the forms that I sent in. However, all of my references have been contacted within the past few days. They even contacted some people I did not list as references (such as prior supervisor). I had listed these people, just not as a formal reference.

Has anyone not previously interviewed been given an interview date? This would help us guess on probable dates for offers. Thanks.

The training dates are set for July, if I recall correctly, from another thread here somewhere. Start date two weeks before training starts. Back up another 30 days or so (It can be less, it has been more, and that gets you offer dates. My guess would be mid to latter part of May for offers.

Folks, I hate to be the pessimist here, but the most recent news I heard about this was that even if they do interview people, no offers are going to be made until they are certain they have funds available. The cert and the potential interviews are merely to give the agency the ability to hire if the funding situation improves. So at this point, while I see nothing wrong with being hopeful, I certainty wouldn't count on offers being made in the next few months, if at all.

I have heard the funds are there for this small hire. Remember, these are replacements and were covered with the budget already.

Mr. Bartleby does have a good point, I believe. There are solicitations out to current ALJ's asking if they want to be trainers for July. The space in ODAR Head quarters is reserved as well for a class in July. So, I think that SSA is planning on running a class for new hires in July 2013.

I remember receiving a solicitation to be a trainer for the 1-year ALJ refresher course in the recent past, but not for the new ALJ training course. So I'm not sure if the July training is for new ALJs or the baby ALJs hitting the one-year mark. We'll know soon enough, and hopefully the Agency will indeed extend offers and hire a few more ALJs. Good luck!

Workdrone, that could be the information I heard actually. A refresher program makes sense. Good luck.
