For those of us without litigation experience, I just want to get on with my life and stop hoping for the inevitable. Any guess how long we will hear about the next step

I think it will take at least six weeks, up to twice that long-- parts of it are quick to score, others are not.

I think 6 to 12 weeks is a reasonable guess-timate. On the other hand, I was fairly surprised that OPM began rolling out the e-mail invitations for Step 2 within about 2 1/2 weeks of closing the initial application process. Overall, the SJT section should be fairly easy to grade. The writing sample may take a little longer. However, I tend to think that people submitted longer responses in their initial applications outlining their experience than would be contained in the timed writing sample, so it may be that it will not take as long to complete the reading and grading of those? Same goes with EA portion. But that is just my speculation.

I would be surprised if "Phase 2" isn't graded mostly or even entirely by computer. The writing sample was not testing what you said; it really was evaluating how you said it. True enough.
