After my SSA interview last year, my husband surprised me with a visit to a professional photographer. He suggested I pose for one photo in a black robe. It was tempting--all the judges I appear before had pumped up my ego, saying they were confident I'd get an offer. I'm so glad I didn't have that photo taken! I was disappointed enough when I didn't receive an offer without emphasizing the memory in that way.
I am better prepared for this cert. If I get an offer I'll be elated. But if I don't, c'est la vie.
My advice to everyone on the cert (and in the application process) is, celebrate your accomplishment but, as they say in the entertainment field, "don't lose your day job."

Thanks for sharing your story! I can't imagine the feelings / emotions of having a photo memorialize the situation. Ugh! Good luck to you on this cert!!!!

The blue suit photo looks nice though and that's some consolation.

I will never ever forget that day of my SSA Interview! It was snowing and my wife skidded to a stop outside Puzzle Palace. "I nailed it" I exclaimed. Kanye had nothing on me. Well, of course I didn't nail it and missed three hirings. And I gave up only to get a call when I least expected it to go to bat again with another Agency. Folks, you have to check your expectations at the door.

My only expectation is to be alive and make it through Phase 3, but there are no guarantees on that happening either.

Think we need a meeting of the minds on terminology. "Phase 3" has been oft used but sounds too scientific for a process that clearly isn't. "Step 3" brings up bad memories for those of us who are veterans of 12 step programs. "WD/SI"...WTF
We need some nominations for nomenclature that adequately describes this point in the process. As an opening salvo, I propose:
"OPM: The Gathering" "The Beltway BS Bonanza" "Robe Warriors" "Blunderdome" "Judgeapalooza" "The Gavel Grovel" "ALJ Tripper" "Bureaucracy Bowl 2013" "OPM Testees"
Suggestions?

Additional names:
"Step to the Robe" "One More Dance" "D.C. Freak-Out" "What's Up?" "OPM Dogday Afternoon"
I like "The Gavel Grovel" out of your titles.

I like Gavel Grovel but would also suggest that a comparison to the Hunger games might be in order

Funky, I have to object to "OPM testees" as it sounds like anaotmy that I don't have. Sometimes I think this could be called "Dante's OPM Inferno-Level 3". Actually Level 1 of Dante's vision seems more appropriate: "Charon ushers you across the river Acheron, and you find yourself upon the brink of grief's abysmal valley. You are in Limbo, a place of sorrow without torment. You encounter a seven-walled castle, and within those walls you find rolling fresh meadows illuminated by the light of reason, whereabout many shades dwell. These are the virtuous pagans, the great philosophers and authors, unbaptised children, and others unfit to enter the kingdom of heaven. You share company with Caesar, Homer, Virgil, Socrates, and Aristotle. There is no punishment here, and the atmosphere is peaceful, yet sad." Then there's also Robe Wars, Episode 3 - Revenge of the OPM Sith

I was kinda hoping "OPM Testees" would catch on. I could see the t-shirts in my mind. "OPM Testees" emblazoned across the front. On the back..."OPM is like a steering wheel on a belt buckle. They're driving me nuts."

How 'bout "I got my panties in a bunch at OPM" on the back of the shirt for the rest of us.

Awesome! I will be the first to buy one. See you outside of OPM. You can look like all the other t-shirt peddlers along Constitution Avenue - but your shirts will be extra funky!
