How can one check on which ODAR offices have ALJ vacancies? Is this just a matter of calling them or knowing someone, or is there some online information available? One of the posts said that occasionally someone will start a thread here informing everyone of vacancies, but I was unable to locate any such thread on this board. Thanks.

To my knowledge, you have to know someone or call that office. I work in Philadelphia East, and there are two vacancies that are about to open up there, presuming that SSA is going to replace the judge who's recently left and the judge who's about to leave. Of course, there is a transfer list, too, so a vacancy in my office might be filled from that list, in which case, presumably, a vacancy will arise in the other office.
Vacancies are kinda like moving targets--like a shell game. Just try to keep your eye on the pea....

The last transfer list came out on march 19, 2013. There is supposed to be a new one every 90 days. The Chief Judge office did not issue one on June 19, 2013 for whatever reason. The transfer list is on the AALJ union site, but you need to be a member to get to them. I think most members will get you a copy if you ask them nicely. You could also call the Chief Judge office and they could send you one.. The March one is truly out of date as there have been so many transfers since then..
