Be still my heart. Only two of us out of this esteemed group going to the Carolina/Georgia game? I know there will be more but, bless their hearts for not finding this group that would have given them so much wisdom. Hope to run into sxsw and for those driving in, go down Clara Barton parkway to get to the Embassy Suites. Google and Apple maps can send you a weird way (I usually like the George Washington Parkway to get into DC but we were in that area in May and the Clara Barton was better. Pay attention on Clara Barton as there are some detour signs (which may or may not apply. You will eventually be dumped into Georgetown and have to wind through the crowded streets (except on Sunday). At the end of Georgetown, I believe the Ritz Carlton, Marriott and Embassy Suites will be just past the filling station in the middle of the road, the Four Seasons should be on your right. The hotels are close to that filling station. At least that is how I remember it. Will make it easy to get out of town and back on the road. Good luck to my southern siblings.

Just an FYI for this week. As was posted elsewhere, the week of August 26 is going to be busy. Lifelongdc noted in a different thread that the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington was going to be celebrated -- she was just on the wrong thread. The celebrations started Saturday and a major event is planned for the 28th -- the President is scheduled to speak around noon. It is my understanding that a couple of the bridges into DC are going to be closed. It won't impact us too much but may make it difficult for anyone driving in on Tuesday or Wednesday. Cabs will probably be difficult to come by and I would plan on walking to OPM (it isn't that difficult as others have posted). The weather is scheduled to be nice except for Wednesday.

Good luck!

Apparently, the board censors certain words, including the USC mascot...I did not write "thingys" in the prior post.

Today's mix was probably the last of the south. Quite a few people from TN. Room is still cold but not overly so. More insiders than I was expecting. Broad range of ages and probably a fairly equal mix of men and women. And all the GW kids are here. I just can't respond to someone calling my beloved mascot Gamethingys. Boo. There were at least two graduates from that fine institution.

Didn't notice the cold until we were standing around before and after sessions. I'm sure I'll be begging for that coolness tomorrow during the SI.
