Does anyone know if OPM gives applicants an opportunity to expand their geographic preference area? Thanks.

Does anyone know if OPM gives applicants an opportunity to expand their geographic preference area? Thanks. Generally, no. It was thought that they NEVER did it, but they did offer that opportunity in the summer of 2011. Since more people expanded their GALs than reduced them, it had the effect of making the register a little bigger without adding names. So, it might happen again, but if it does, I'd guess probably not for 18 months to two years after this register is established.

If you make a certificate, you can eliminate cities you won't move to if they are on the certificate.

We are talking about hundreds on the Register who make it to a SSA Cert. SSA just doesn't want too many decllnations--more work for them. Sometimes the slot just doesn't get filled. There are threads on this.
