Does anyone know how to retrieve records of previous Federal employment at another agency?

If you are currently working for a federal agency, they are probably already included in your eOPF.

There is a process to retrieve old hard copy records through OPM. You may need to get your records through OPM because the electronic records can be spotty.

Greetings Alexfish and ALJ Someday maybe,
Thanks so much for your assistance with this. I will go to the OPM webpage and start there! You saved me a lot of time- Thank you, dragonfly

If you are a current federal employee you can request prior SF-50 via your personnel office, if you are not a federal employee you need to send the request to:
National Personnel Records Center, Annex, 1411 Boulder Boulevard, Valmeyer, IL 62295.
Your written request must include
full name used during Federal employment, date of birth, Social Security Number (if applicable), name and location of employing Federal agency, beginning and ending dates of Federal service
This will get you your last SF-50, if you need earlier versions, prior to the one that said "I quit" you have to make that clear in the request or the only one you get is the last HR action.

My previous fed. Employment was with SSA. I sent a letter to the regional personnel office & they responded by giving me the info for National Records Center. I wrote to them & received my file. Both offices were very quick to respond. I really thought I might have to jump through a lot of hoops, but all I did was write those 2 letters.
