For those who have taken appointments in a remote city, but their families remained (perhaps in anticipation of transferring back or waiting for the kids to finish the school year), how do the federal healthcare benefits play out when your spouse and dependents are in a different location than you? I know that there are a number of healthcare plans available to choose. Would picking a national healthcare PPO plan like Blue Cross Blue Shield give preferred provider coverage in different locations or does the federal government provide other options?

I am not an ALJ but I am a Senior Attorney with the Federal Govt. There are MANY options to sign up for when you are employed and too many different types to give specifics. You should not have an issue finding a plan that fits your situation. Each person lists their address and picks providers accordingly.
