I am furloughed from my state agency (dependent on fed. funding) effective tomorrow. Ironically, the same day I start my testing in DC. Let the furlough fun begin! Major downfall is that our state doesn't pay retroactively to furloughed employees, regardless of what the Feds end up doing.

Sorry to hear of the unpaid furlough.

I've followed your trials and tribs just getting your emails and schedule set davef. If anyone has had a rough go buddy its you. Best of luck in DC.

Day 7: filled the ice cube trays. Were the ice cube trays empty due to you having to drink in order to deal with the furlough days? Just kidding!

Ah, forgot about the wedding part of your story ! Congratulations on that! BTW, I didn't have to change the font size on the laptop this time... the settings must have been different. You still can, though. (and that way, I didn't have to worry about remembering to change it back before it was printed out!) Fingers crossed for you!

We got last weekend in an outdoor ceremony with torrential rains, we arrived today in DC to a Tornado warning. I hear its good luck...

I don't get it. How can we go from non-essential to essential under the statutory scheme for a shutdown? Plus, I was going to learn a new language on Wednesday.
