VA had 14 positions available for Veteran Law Judge. They just finished interviewing. I did not get interviewed. I did not even get a rejection letter. I only found out when I was talking to a VA employee. I guess Vet preference does not matter much with VA!

Its an exempted position and all the agency needs to do is say that VA Preference is a positive factor in the Agency's consideration of the preference. No 5 or 10 points scheme like in competitive service.
I heard they had an avalanche of candidates, many retired Military judges and other high ranking individuals. A former Judge Advocate General is a current judge. Its more competitive than the ALJ gig at SSA. Do not feel that you were not worthy, you are, just an incredible amount of competition!
