The work of an ALJ is not all drudgery. Today I was reviewing a file for an upcoming docket. On one of the forms, the applicant's occupation listed was "bus driver" and under employer was listed "cats and school system." I knew something was not right, but for the life of me could not figure out what this person did. A bus driver for cats? Why do cats need a bus? Where were they being taken? And how does one even get cats to board a bus? After following that line of thought as far as it would go and having a good laugh at the mental image of cats on a bus, I realized the person worked for CATS--Capital Area Transit Service.
Oh well. It was fun while it lasted.

The work of an ALJ is not all drudgery. Even after almost 5 years of being an ALJ, I still find the job quite satisfying. Maybe it's because I'm in a good office, but I enjoy going to work everyday and trying to do the right thing. Despite the occasional frustrations, I don't regret the choices I made to get here one bit. So here's a song I think that summarizes how I feel quite well: A bus driver for cats? Why do cats need a bus? Where were they being taken? And how does one even get cats to board a bus? Now time for me get off that Cat Bus and go home!
