So I submitted the SF15 with my DD14 and VA letter but only received a 5 point Veteran credit on my NOR. I never received any communication from OPM requesting anything further. Am I going to be stuck in a appeal? The extra 5 points is a big deal. Did this happen to anyone else?

I show 10 point adjudicated at the bottom of my NOR.

My 5 point preference was adjudicated correctly.

I submitted my DD-214's, I had split active duty service, but I didn't get my 5-point preference. I find this strange as I have always been given a 5-point preference when applying for other government jobs.

I got my 10 points. Still can't believe my NOR. I was hoping for high 60s with the 10 points.

I immediately sent an email that started with "this is not an appeal" and then stated what was in error on the NOR. Received a reply email fairly quickly that acknowledged the error and then received a second NOR with the correct info. The error had nothing to do with the testing process.

I am going to send an email based on your recommendation Agilitymom. I doubled checked everything last night and my SF15 was in order and had the proper documentation attached. The only thing that I can figured happen is that I also uploaded by DD214 as a separate document (and I attached a copy to my SF15) and perhaps someone working a little too quickly saw the DD214 and just checked me off as a 5 pointer.
Luckily my score without the extra 5 points is still highly competitive, I am more concerned with losing the other 10 point protections.

I uploaded my VA letter as a separate document so you may have identified why the error occurred. Send an email that points out you provided the VA letter in a timely manner.

What do you mean by "other" protections? If a hiring agency wants to hire a candidate with the same or lower score of a 10 point veteran they need to justify it in writing to OPM and the veteran gets a chance to respond. At least that is my understanding. Because this is so cumbersome it has led to a somewhat de facto rule that the only way a 10 point veteran can lose a position is to another 10 point veteran or a higher scorer.

OPM has fixed my issue. Received an Amended NOR reflecting 10 points. Serious kudos to the folks working the Help Desk at OPM. I never expected such a quick turnaround time. And thank you Agilitymom for the helpful advice.

Well it's amazing how a person can get other things done when you don't have about a thousand applicant files sitting on your desk - they found their phone much quicker!!! Seriously, that's great news.

Wow. That has got to be a record. Glad it worked out for you. I take it you are a Ft. Sill alum? I am too, on the Marine side. Yes, did my Basic and AIT at Fort Sill. Was happy to see that place in my rear view mirror. Spent the rest of my enlistment in the frosty mountains of Germany though. I remember the Jarheads lining up for chow at the mess hall Were you Field Artillery?

I did basic at Fort Sill. All I can say is that it was better than Fort Leonard Wood.

Okay guys and gals - I have read this and read this. Mine says:
"The numerical rating assigned to you is on a scale of 1-100, excluding veterans' preference. If you claimed veterans' preference and submitted the required documentation, five (5) or ten (10) points, as appropriate, were added to determine your final numerical rating."
So, do they mean the "scale" excludes veterans' preference at this point (in other words, if you are a 5-point, your "scale" is from 6 to 105 and a 10-point's "scale" is from 11-110)? Because this is not crystal clear that the number at the bottom includes those 10 points or not (although, I believe it does and represents the final numerical rating) - that first sentence is confusing unless you really parse it.
Or is it just me?

"were added to determine your final numerical rating." The 10 points are added in the score as indicated above. With my score it would be impossible any other way. I'm a 10 pointer and my score MUST include the 10 points as I could never get the score I got without the 10 points.

How did you get it fixed? I, too, uploaded the SF15 separately from my DD214 and VA decision - but only received 5 points instead of the 10 (I'm even listed in the OPM system as a 10-pt vet)? This is frustrating.

I had the same question as the other poster - the email from OPM is so poorly written that you can't tell for sure whether or not your rating is the final rating, i.e., whether or not veterans pref points are added or will be added later when we get the next email with the "final numerical rating".

Who do we email? I tried calling OPM all day and could find no answers.
