Help me ... I've fallen off the wagon. I used to check the Board only in the evening after work. Now I find myself checking it several times per day. I chewed off all my fingernails. I can't sleeep. I can't eat. My name is AnotherFed, and I'm a Boardaholic.

Another fed.......I suffer from the same malady. I tell myself it's just to see if the cert emails are out and that I didn't get one. If that was true however I wouldn't be reading all these posts.

Get a grip people. If you think waiting for the cert is bad, just think about how bad off you all will be three months after the last SSA interviews...

Look at it this way, the longer it takes SSA to send out cert emails, the quicker SSA will have to act to fit in the ALJ training prior to the end of this fiscal year. Therefore, it is not likely SSA will be able to take three months past the last interview (per Val) to do hiring. Most of the things will have to be compressed to fit it into this fiscal year.

Don't they just have to hire everyone by the end of the fiscal year? I can't remember whether it was reported or a WAG that training would be the middle of Sept and the middle of Oct (15th, I think). The second training would be in FY15 (although I suppose they could have paid for/funded it in FY14).

Some slightly good news? At our ALJ meeting today, the HOCALJ said that a third of the Federal workforce will be up for retirement next year... Just for whatever it's worth..

And it will continue to increase through 2016. Air traffic controllers are being hit particularly hard given their age restrictions.

I don't know if it is good news luckylady2, but it was in response to funky's post. Look at it this way, I waited five months past my D.C. testing and interview for a NOR. Anything less than that will be a relief. Besides, there is no guarantee who will make this cert.

No, this is not good news, because there was a "retirement tsunami" at the first of the year and all of the ALJs are already gone. I know I read that somewhere. Thanks for today's big laugh devil dog. I needed it.

Yep, that was good.

So if the hiring is done, it is still ok if the training starts in October.

Maybe we can get a group discount on valium? Or we could all move to Colorado -- hey, how many ODAR offices in Colorado? Would your GAL w/r/t Colorado be different today from what it was a year ago? Hmmmm? First a new coif for your avatar, and now this sassy attitude? What's gotten into you?

For the benefit of the SSA and OPM monitors of this Board: My silence regarding the implication of the quoted post does not constitute an endorsement of the use by a new ALJ of any substance that is now legal under a state's law but remains illegal under federal law. Just saying.

There was some retirement after the first of the year. we are probably down 125-140 Judges right now, but, something strange is going on, what it is isn't exactly clear (from one of my favorite tunes). There is something going on with NHC's expansions. I don't know if there will be more of them or just larger ones. With VPN on the way, it will be so much easier for work to be shifted all over. I believe they need to hire 125 right now and probably 125 next year if they want to keep things as they are. The fact that the 90 number has come up is troublesome.
