I had an interview with ODAR in early June. Sent in all my papework to ODAR. I know they checked references, as all my references told me so. Then I got a call from ODAR asking whether I was interested in Morgnatown. I am still waiting for word from ODAR. Just got the call (and email) from OMHA asking whether I was interested in Cleveland. I said yes, so they scheduled me for an interview for the Cleveland OMHA. Sorry for the confusions earlier.

Add one more anonymous party accepting the opportunity to interview with omha.
Apparently they are finally running a hurry up offense. This person advised they were asked to have their paperwork back by Monday and that they would interview Tuesday.

Is the most recent person still in the 77 range (if he or she told you)?

Welcome. If the past two weeks have taught us anything, you should be getting Bob's call first thing Monday morning! Good luck to you.

Definitely not yours funkily. While I would love aljing at omha, all their locales would require me relocating. And, I don't look fondly on the prospect of trying to sell the funky farm without relo benefits/assistance. Or, even worse than selling the Funky Farm -- and prepare for the earwig, Having to leave Funky Town...

Good afternoon Board members-
Like several other people have posted, I am on the first Cert for SSA, and I was contacted yesterday by OMHA regarding a position in the Cleveland office. I interview next week. From the number of Board members reporting that they have been contacted for this "new" opportunity, it appears that OMHA is trying to cast a wide net for what could be a relatively small number of hires at one office. Like others have suggested, I believe this is because OMHA is trying to place itself in a better position should any more people with tentative OMHA offers ultimately accept an ODAR offer instead. In theory, OMHA could then turn more quickly to its next suitable candidate.
This has been a difficult process for all involved, including those at OMHA and ODAR, and I wish everyone well as we keep moving through it. Good luck to the new OMHA candidates as well as SSA's first and soon-to-be second Certers, and congrats to those already picked up. When I think I have had enough of this process, I think of several high caliber peers who are pushing through the appeals process. Finally, thank you all for your thoughts on this Board, and a special thank you to our Vets.

Welcome Integer, seems that the quickest way to get a call from Bob is to first accept a job offer from OMHA.

Question about the hiring/start date/training timetable: will OMHA have the same calendar, with hires being made ASAP, a report date of Aug 25, and ALJ classes in mid-September?

Question about the hiring/start date/training timetable: will OMHA have the same calendar, with hires being made ASAP, a report date of Aug 25, and ALJ classes in mid-September? The start date is August 24 (Sunday = beginning of pay period). There will be 2 weeks of training for all new ALJ's in Kansas City starting on August 25.

Question about the hiring/start date/training timetable: will OMHA have the same calendar, with hires being made ASAP, a report date of Aug 25, and ALJ classes in mid-September? OMHA does not do training the same was ODAR. It sounds like they will do 2 weeks of training in one of their offices. ODAR does at least 4 weeks of training in Falls Church, VA.

OMHA does not do training the same was ODAR. It sounds like they will do 2 weeks of training in one of their offices. ODAR does at least 4 weeks of training in Falls Church, VA. Thanks. I was curious. For what it's worth ... When I asked DCALJ Moore about training, he indicated there would be a couple of weeks in KC for all newly hired ALJs and newly hired staff attorneys for the KC office, in order to learn the basics of Medicare payment & appeals procedure. The reason for the KC training location appeared to be cost savings as most of the folks being trained were assigned to the KC office. [Sounded to me like they assume no one has been involved Medicare reimbursement law and start with a Medicare 101 type class] That would be followed by a 2-3 week class (can't remember which) in Arlington, VA for new Supervisory ALJ's only - to learn the basics of serving as an ALJ with HHS/OMHA. Judge Moore said it would include a significant portion of time focused on how to write their decisions. In all it sounded like 4-5 weeks of training broken into 2 segments in 2 different locations. It did not sound at all to me like they were going to minimize your up-front training and throw you to the wolves with only 2 weeks of training. ht
