I have been on this board for a really long time, and never even contemplated a different agency. So here are some OMHA questions: do the same transfer rules apply? If you go to Cleveland could you be stuck there for a very long time? Can you apply for and possibly get jobs at other agencies? Are the ALJs also part of the same union? Do people begin working at OMHA and then obtain a position with Social Security? Do OMHA ALJs feel the same way about their jobs that ODAR ALJs do? Do they like their jobs better? Or not as much? I never imagined considering a position at any other agency. Help!

Obviously, I don't know the answers to all of these questions but I will give some of them a shot since I have read the answers here. do the same transfer rules apply? If you go to Cleveland could you be stuck there for a very long time?
No. OMHA apparently hires you for an office and expect that you will stay there. I am sure that if an unusual circumstance occurred after you got hired they might consider filling a vacancy by transfer but remember there are far fewer jobs for them to fill. Are the ALJs also part of the same union?
I don't think so. I think the ODAR ALJ union is just for ODAR. Although I think their might be an association of ALJs that any ALJ can join.Do people begin working at OMHA and then obtain a position with Social Security?
I think Bartelby has a friend who has been trying to get from OMHA to ODAr for years and has been unable to pull it off. However, that may or may not be an outlier.
Do OMHA ALJs feel the same way about their jobs that ODAR ALJs do?
Considering the ODAR AlJs are all over the map on their feelings about ODAR the answer is probably.

For those of you who received offers from OMHA, how long did you wait to hear from OMHA after you submitted your fingerprints?

For those of you who received offers from OMHA, how long did you wait to hear from OMHA after you submitted your fingerprints? I was electronically fingerprinted at an OMHA facility late on a Friday morning, had my second interview Friday afternoon and received an offer first thing the following Tuesday.

I can't figure out how many folks have actually accepted and will take a job at OMHA and where they accepted the job. Also how many folks left OMHA at the altar for their true love ODAR. So..... I made a poll. I know there are a gazillion polls going on right now but to get a true sense of how many people are hired off the register we need just a bit more data from some of you. aljdiscussion.proboards.com/thread/2674/job-omha-summer-2014

Gaiden I understand the need for further information on OMHA by doing the polling, but I think, as we see by less than full cooperation on the ODAR polls, that most people are growing weary of filling in polls. Furthermore, I would think once you acquire an ALJ position your thoughts aren't focused on filling out the polls, but readying yourself for a move and getting your present life/work in order for the move to the new position. So, while the rest of the first certers certainly are dying for information, it isn't likely they will ever receive all the necessary information they seek. It is a shame, but not surprising overall.

Once again, I see that OMHA seems to be moving very slowly in trying to fill open ALJ spots. There has been no mention or movement on this thread about tentative acceptance of an offer in some time. Second certers may indeed get a shot at some OMHA positions yet.

Funny little aside: wayne and I have known each other for years in our little legal community, and just figured out our secret identities 20 minutes ago. OMHA is getting a good person with wayne. But Wayne Enterprises will miss him, Clark.

But Wayne Enterprises will miss him, Clark. Is he selling his car? Perhaps, he is even selling his cape and hood, too. I am not so sure I would want the used unitard.

Well, first interview with OMHA is done and fingerprints, security paperwork, and the like have been returned. Waiting, waiting, and waiting. I will echo the sentiments of so many others, the OMHA folks are professional and impressive. Good luck to all still waiting for word.

Is anyone else starting to feel sorry for OMHA? Always a bridesmaid, never a bride...

I accepted a position with OMHA in Kansas City this morning. Report on August 25. Yikes, that is coming up quick!!! Still have not heard from SSA though I was wide open on my locations. Will probably get a call from them now that I've accepted the OMHA spot.
