Besides we aren't looking for creating a "sausage" club, but we want equal representation from all sexes, colors, creeds, religions, etc. without exclusion.

Except maybe not too many young folks....that might make me feel old! LOL (And I'm just kidding - please take no offense anyone who is young!!)

How about we identify ourselves by tugging our right ear? No touching involved, and no one should feel excluded. btw, Wing, never try to get into the head of a 14 year old. It's scary in there.

Isn't that a little too Carol Burnett? Only if we include the Tarzan yell. I considered scratching the nose, but I was afraid that would be misinterpreted by the less socialized among us. An ear tug is easily identifiable, and can be done without looking weird by both sexes and all ages, and every other demo you can think of ...

Seeing I fall within that classification that you list Sandi, I don't mind. Of course, I can do the fist bump and other more complicated hand shakes just as well. Tsk, tsk, tsk, not cool, moopig. A fist bump is not a handshake -- it is sui generis -- so you can't say "fist bump and other more complicated hand shakes." Just sayin'. (And, yes, I'm sorta proud of myself for using "fist bump" and "sui generis" in the same sentence.) P.S. I'm not some young buck makin' fun of "try-hards" (see wingnut's post above) -- no, I'm confident I'm in the geezer demographic of this board.

From the Office of SCOB, your inspiration for today:
Chessparent: you need to have some patience. Chesskid: Patients? I don't need any patients. I'm not a doctor.

Inspiration for today.....
Live today, like tomorrow may never come.
With that being said it is time to break out the "situational bourbon" after work.

This is my first post here, and I only recently discovered the forums. Since this thread is focused on "future certs," it seemed an ok place to ask. I apologize if it isn't. Anyway, I check usajobs fairly often, and I did not have seven years of admin law practice at the time of the last application cycle. I do now. I understand that the register stays active for a few years (I think?), but do you think testing will also open up again say, in 2015? Or is there no way to tell? I thought that maybe since there are so many on the register from this year, that they will just select future certs from it in the next couple of years and not look to expand. I'm quite new to investigating this process, so forgive my ignorance. I have enjoyed reading about the process on here, though.
Just for a little background: I'm a fed in DC (GS-14), and have been doing disability stuff at VA for my entire legal career. It's similar to SSA work (a difference being that our judges are not ALJs and are usually hired internally). Am a 5 point vet, too.
Thanks, and again, sorry if this is the wrong place for the question.

Thanks, and again, sorry if this is the wrong place for the question. Welcome to the Board vmi....As to when the Register will either re-open for a refresh or new testing, we cannot tell your for sure, but it is likely not to occur prior to the 2016 calendar year. Best thing to do is occasionally check this Board and of course, USAJOBS for the possibility of a chance to apply for an ALJ position. Since, the Register is brand new this year and SSA and other federal agencies seem to be using less than the numbers of individuals (then in the past) to create certs for ALJ openings, we don't know when the Register may run out of viable candidate so that OPM has to do a refresh (new testing for those interested, but without removing those on the present Register who decide not to re-test) or brand new overall testing, like in March 2013. I wish you luck and hope you stick around and add to the flavor of the Board. We do have some fun and kid around on the Board, but most of us are helpful to those with questions. Also, there is a search function...see ALJD post "Search Function 101 - Read Before Post" you can use to try to determine some answers to similar questions posed in the past.
