Future, potroast said it came up after, so that's not an issue and potroast, mention that to Bob. Also, I have two kids with "issues" and I think you should say it's a medical situation (no need to specify what kind) that requires specialist treatment that is available elsewhere, but not where you were offered. I have found that if you say it's a medical issue but don't volunteer what it is, people are shy about asking in a business setting. I agree that you need to be specific about what kind of family issue. Good luck with both your family member and Bob - as much as I want a job myself, I would hate to see you lose out over this.

Exactly. And go ahead and call him. Time is passing, and offers being made, while you are going back and forth deciding whether to call or email.

Confirming I accepted an offer today from SSA for Knoxville - start 9/22 (my birthday). Call came while I am at Wrigley with my son for the first time! Good day!! (No, not a Cubs fan. But my son is a baseball fanatic. And my Dad was a Die Hard. Maybe he had SSA wait until I was at his shrine ...) harrydoyle9211 just posted why after seven years I still make it habit to go on the board during "school nights". Way to go Harry!!! And isn't it great to be at the pinnacle of Fatherhood and Career all in one glorious Chicago afternoon?!! Heck, I'm going to be grinning for a while now. BTW, isn't "way to go, Harry!" a movie or small screen line? Help me as its nagging me now...

Awfully quite today. At some point this quite will signal the end of the first cert hiring. I believe that day is close, but not quite yet. Even accounting for offers made to nonboard participants, the list of cities with no offers is still too large and some cities that seem to appear on every cert are still showing zero. I hold out hope for us remaining first cert'ers, but hope is fading quickly. Let's hope for the typical pm action.

Agreed. My cities are still open, I'm in the "right" score range -- either give me the green light or send me an email saying I tanked my interview. This uncertainty is getting old!

DC is a bit screwed up this week (or at least the traffic is more screwed up than usual) because of the Africa summit, and some Feds have been told they may telework this week, so that may explain some of today's silence. Keep your spirits up!
