I accepted an offer to Philadelphia East today. Philadelphia was the only city on my GAL on the cert. You are the new hero of the narrow GAL club! Lightning does strike! Maybe one day it will strike in the tree farm; but if it does, will anyone hear it?

Hamster: Thanks for the complement, but I hope you don't think I look like Yoda.
I agree with Hamster, with the exception he alluded to, the decision writing in Philadelphia East is excellent from both the other attorneys and the paralegals. I rarely have to make changes, and unlike other Judges who have posted here, I can go through most fully favorable drafts in about 10 minutes or less. Unfavorables in about 15 or twenty minutes. Basically, I read them to catch the occasional typo. It gives all of the Judges time to do the other parts of the job like reviewing files, holding hearings, writing instructions, etc.
I would recommend that both Dukehoops and Huskeypower call both the HOCALJ and HOD ASAP and introduce yourselves. In fact, I recommend that to anyone who has accepted and offer in an ODAR office.

Me wonders if Philadelphia East is so wonderful why is there no one transferring in?? I think family considerations and issues related to non work life override anything else when it comes to transfers.

Bart: Philly East got a new HOCALJ as a transfer in in April and another transfer in in May. Remember, it's Philadelphia not San Diego or Honolulu.

Me wonders if Philadelphia East is so wonderful why is there no one transferring in?? well the 3.5% city wage tax doesn't help.

Congratulations to those who have received offers from ODAR. Did ODAR call your home, office or cell phone? Was the number ODAR called the number you stated was your preferred number?

I don't know this for sure. But, given the speed at which this is unfolding, I believe Bob has to travel to within ten feet of each offer recipient so they can speak through the special odar tin cans and string apparatus.

Thank you for the best laugh of the week funky! It brought to mind the Campbell's Soup advertisements with the tin cans and strings. LOL!

Funky, do you have any intel on when the NHCs might see this communication system upgrade?

Unfortunately the NHCs require a multi-line system. They have been trying to untangle the ball of yarn for years.

Could be much worse. While OPM has mandated the soup can communicator for Odar, OMHA apparently got even more complications. Apparently the new process requires OMHA hires to be only tentative until the passage of background check, fingerprint analysis, DNA sequencing and body cavity search. I understand the delay at this point stems from a screw up in the fact that the urine specimen cups they ordered were 5 ounces but the FAA will only allow 3.4 ounces of liquid to be shipped back to OPM via plane.

Doggone it! That means if ODAR ever makes me an offer I won't need the specimen I've been saving in my fridge.

Oh, gee whiz funky, here I thought you were going to say that OMHA was using smoke signals to send out offers because of their slowness compared to ODAR's soup cans and strings. I think the rain and wind has played havoc with the smoke signals leading to many OMHA issues in obtaining accepted offers.

Dukehoops,
Thanks and congrats to you! I'm looking forward to meeting you as well. Thanks to everyone for the encouragement, info and good suggestions. As someone who has been largely lurking for about a year, I have found the information shared so generously by board members to be invaluable. Good luck to everyone still waiting to hear.
