I was treated to this view from my new office in San Juan. Warm reception from my fellow ALJs, which wasn't surprising given the location. I have to admit I feel fortunate to have had experience as a decision writer and group supervisor prior to arriving, but I have no doubt the "outsiders" will get there soon enough. ODAR has afforded us newbies a good amount of time to get our feet wet prior to first hearings, IMO. I've been able to sit through hearings with all of the ALJs in the office, which has been most instructive. Cheers! Que hermosa vista! Eso es! Felicidades, Guac!

Cheezits: remind me to hang out with you at FC! I hope this won't spoil your trip to FC, but I don't think any of the restaurants cheesy mentioned serve Soylent Green.

I am probably stating the obvious, but based on the picture of the new ALJ class, there are more than 50% of board members in the class, right? So, to the number whizzes, does this give us any additional speculation on board membership vs non-board membership in assessing the statistics that have been pulled from the polls? Or just that the members of this board are the obvious top selections by their intelligence and testing ability, as also reflected by the fact they found the board and joined up?

Based on the polling from this past hire we had somewhere around 60% participation.

Self-selecting genius! I hope the powers that be at the Puzzle Palace are paying attention.

I understand the reasoning and take issue with it insofar as a high score is just that. Not that the testing procedure is a measure of "intelligence" (whatever that is) and "testing ability". Some folks reason and type faster than others and still another population writes in a style not favored by the tester. Others are on the verge of wetting their pants when interviewed as they never have been. There are a thousand stories in the naked city. If you are on on the Register with a decent score then you are in the batter's box. Having said that I applaud OPM for severly limiting SSA's ability to three strike. All of the folks whom have made it through know in their heart of hearts that they were, in part, lucky. At least the ones that I have hung with.
