Looks like new notices are being sent to claimants and representatives regarding objecting to VTC hearings. Early reports are that large volumes of these are being returned indicating that VTC is being rejected. Anyone in a NHC scrambling yet to find a way out and getting their transfer request in?

A rep brought this to my attention. It looks like the onus is now on the claimant to affirmatively reject video hearings. No real difference in my office, but I'm not in a NHC.

I'm still in training and it looks like the claimants reps in our area have already started faxing in such requests. I have a handful of such faxed requests, with just a little over 100 files assigned.
It will be interesting to see what effect this push will have on our remote site VTC numbers.

Another short-sighted action by people that do not have a clue about the operation of a hearing office. A major problem with the notices, besides being unnecessary, is the notices are so poorly written that even attorney-reps are having a difficult time understanding its implications. Have received many objections opting out of video hearings. One law firm even tried to file a blanket objection to all cases, even those that would not have been held by video. Just another in a long line of problems created by changes where there was no need to make a change.

In our NHC, we have far fewer ALJs wanting to transfer out than those who want to transfer in (the level of attorney and staff support being far better here than in most hearing offices), and we have no current or anticipated shortage of cases.
