I have read through the posts on this thread trying to understand the intel relied on by MW2 for the comment that "...there may be no start dates scheduled after June 29 it seems it could be many months before they start extending offers again." It was my understanding that ODAR would attempt to fill a class in late July and late August. Please help me understand or give me hope. Thanks for all the information. Without going back to earlier posts/threads, individuals who were made offers have been told that an expected class in July "isn't coming together" which does not necessarily mean that there will not be a start date in July or August firmly scheduled at a later date. It simply means that individuals made offers for the June class were not allowed to postpone until the next hire date because, well, there isn't one. In the past, subsequent dates were tied down, and such deferrals were permitted. Nobody on the Board knows why this happened, but it seems to be a consensus that this doesn't mean hiring is going to stop, just that the expected hire date in July has been, for lack of a better term, "vacated" without a new date being set. Deep breath.

Hey, Bob - I don't need a lot of notice! As far as I'm concerned, there's ALWAYS still time to make me an offer! Careful there. "I can start tomorrow™" belongs to me. Wait just a second here. You've already claimed "today." I've received a threatening letter to prove it. You're one of those patent trolls I read about, aren't you. We need pixie and ALJD to clean this up! EDIT NOTE BY PIXIE; We, as always, are on top of it. Pixie.

I was offered and accepted Sacramento this afternoon. I was standing in line ordering a sandwich when I got the call. I'm an outsider, non vet. When I asked if I could defer to a later date, I was told that they had not yet scheduled another class. Thank you to all in this forum for all the great advice and intel. Wylaw, the above comment is the intel to which I was referring. After the first cert list came out and interviews were completed, SSA filled two classes starting in September 2014. Following the second cert in November, they filled two more classes, one starting at the end of January and one starting at the end of February after some late January interviews. The third and current cert was sent out in April. They filled one class starting in May, and are now filling another class starting in June after finishing a small round of interviews in May. I know past performance is no indication of future results, and I really hope I'm wrong, but I can't help but thinking that when they are done with this round of hires and the June class is filled, we are in for a quiet few months. It wouldn't surprise me if we actually saw another cert list come out before the next round of hires, which would be good news for anyone still hoping to make a cert list. This is only my analysis of the situation, and not based on any inside intel or anything. I really hope they keep hiring off the current list and fill classes in August, September, and October as suggested by agilitymom.

I take it that's the letter that says: "Dear John, I've found someone else. Sincerely, ODAR" My hubby calls it FOAD: F- Off And Die. LOL. I've gotten several. I refuse to comply. Miss you are my kind of person who has the correct attitude for the long haul. A lot of us feel the same way.

Anyone heard about a position in Houston? Also, its kind of embarrassing to supply twenty references, including people that you currently work with, and have them ask "have you heard anything"? This whole process is ridiculous, in my humble opinion.

This whole process is ridiculous, in my humble opinion. Someone has reported accepting a position in Houston earlier this week. I don't know if there are more spots, but it is a popular transfer destination so I would not be surprised if there is only one. And yes the whole process is ridiculous. Perhaps Gaidan should start a poll querying whether people would have gone through the exam process if they knew then what they know now.

Thanks, MPD. I wish the best for my board friends; congrats to the new ALJs and hope those offers keep coming! Thankfully, I think the PMA from JudgeRatty is rubbing off on me.

MW2 didn't call that "intel", and I don't think it was-- just an overly gloomy view of the fact that ODAR doesn't have an exact starting date for the next group right now. The actual certificate/hiring process has become more complicated, with way more moving parts to coordinate, with this register, due to OPM's decision to issue a separate cert for each city. If this register was being handled the way the old one was, the process would be going a lot faster, IMO.

In the past haven't we heard of ALJ's being scheduled for training dates months before the classes actually start? So if they plan on starting a class at the end of July training would be in August. A little over two months away. Do we have any indication ALJ's are being lined up for a training class in August? Isn't August one of those months of little activity because so many people are on vacation at various times? Given the complexities, it's hard to imagine they can schedule a class and get everything lined up within two months so that offers for a July class could be coming soon.

Uhmm no. They got us from 0 to people sitting in new offices between November and January this past year. They can make it work here if you believe that this is anything more than ODAR needing to stop the flood of requests to delay.
Guys I don't think its over for this round. I THINK we have at least a day or two more BUT we may not. It may be over until the week after next or August or September or who knows when. That is a bitter pill for me to swallow but its true. If you're ready to throw in the towel then I guess thats your choice. Just go ahead and send Bob the email and copy OPM on it. If you're not sure how to write the email pm me and I will write it up for you.
I'm down in the dumps myself gang and I feel like I'm back in grade school and not getting picked to be on the kickball team. I'm just not giving up.
So feel free to PM me if you need an email written or if you just need some encouragement.

Given the complexities, it's hard to imagine they can schedule a class and get everything lined up within two months so that offers for a July class could be coming soon. The last actual intel I received from management (this was a few weeks ago) was that there are 3 anticipated hire dates for 6/29, 8/10, and 9/21 for ODAR. Each cert grouping has lasted 2 hirings. The June 29th hire is expected to be 45-50 (this is from a question I asked when I received the offer) which means there are another 20 offers to be made next week. If patterns hold, and it should, after this hire plus the last hire that will necessitate another cert list. Transfers will happen as usual and then if anyone who has not interviewed yet, that will happen.
So my WAG (with some intel thrown in) is that the next date is not "in stone" because they are not sure when OPM will get the next cert lists to them. But rest assured more hiring will happen and they want another 100 (2 classes) this fiscal to make near the 250 goal. The dates may be off a little depending on when OPM gets ODAR the names. Breathe and believe!

There were some outstanding acceptances/declinations and they are moving as fast as they can. The faster people respond, the more offers they can get out.

After 2 years, and being this close, I'm not ready to throw in the towel. I'm hoping that ODAR sees my light at the end of their tunnel. I'm not quitting my day job in the process, but wishing I could do that soon!

Just a friendly reminder.
I, and at least a few others, got their offer via email not the much ballyhooed and anxiously awaited call from Bobellinda. After receiving the email, I actually called Bob just to make sure it wasn't Tigerlaw somehow screwing with me.
And I got that email later in the day on a Friday.
So, remember to check your email and spam folders. That winning ticket you are hoping for could just be in the trash.
Good luck everybody.

Nope. I know of three, including me. One was a fed, but not ssa. The other was a outsider in both ways if I recall correctly.
