71 stretch, im in same boat on suit v dress. i have a nice dress that can be a "Sunday" dress . it is cream and black. so a blazer/suit jacket over that dress would be good enough for the interview?? i am not in court these days but if i were and female attorneys occasionally showed up in dresses to court, i would be fine wearing it to court. Jacket over dress is fine. That's what I've done in the past. If it's really warm, and you are really nervous, ditch the jacket. The key is to look good and feel good. I may have skipped the jacket one time myself, I really don't remember for sure.

Signed up for December 9th...what kind of weather can I hope for? I'm from the Pacific Northwest so I'm used to rain at that time. Should I bring my snow boots as well?

Also the hubs and kids are tagging along. Any kid friendly (or more appropriately, toddler friendly) things to do in the vacinity of OPM and SI?

DC weather in winter is notoriously fickle. You could easily run into spring like temperatures or a full on artic blizzard. If you have a pair of l.l. bean style "duck boots" They will probably come in handy.

Hopefully the new panda cub will be on display. It's not near you, but a metro ride away. Besides, you will be busy all day. Otherwise, there's the Smithsonian museums nearby.

The National Mall with all of the monuments is a short walk from OPM's headquarters. The Smithsonian museums will be good/free options for cold winter day. As for the SI location if it's near Georgetown there are lots of shops, but not too many kid friendly options. There is an ice rink at the Georgetown Harbor in winter they could check out--probably expensive. You'd be better off sending them to the Newseum, or Spy Museum for the day. Though admittedly I'm not sure these are the best go to places for a toddler. I'd probably suggest taking a toddler to the National Zoo for the day and meeting up after the exam. There will likely be lots of walking either way so bring a stroller for sure.

Gaidin put new polls up just for you guys. Please vote so you will have a good idea of how many folks are testing. Of course your report back to the board after your testing day will be dead accurate since you will stop in the middle of the exam and count how many people are there...

They are private and may not be old enough to appreciate the price of admission. Natural history smithsonian is very kid friendly and will keep them busy all day. Air and Space is another good kid option. While you are in town, try to get over to the Library of Congress. The great hall is truly something to behold.

Just booked my travel for Oct 22-25 (staying on with a friend for the weekend). With different hotels and airports, Expedia and Amex travel were a bust. So far, flip to DAC the night before the WD $317, night at State Plaza $164, switch to Embassey (I'm going on past history for that one)$254...waiting on my friend for the return flight - about $270.

I havent posted in a while. I know there is a thread and an answer for my question somewhere out there in the ether. Would khaki and a dress shirt be acceptable for the WD and LBMT and maybe a light jacket? Or do we assume you are always being evaluated and should dress accordingly?
