Have fun Ladies and Gentlemen....but like Casper the Ghost....I'm outta of here! As of this thread, I am now known as "xsw23edc", the artist formerly known as Tiger Law (for the younger folks, that a Prince "Purple Rain" reference).
It was wild and fun times getting to know Funky, Hilltopper, and all other board members on this discussion board during the long journey to becoming a United States Administrative Law Judge.
But, just like Casper, this board no longer serves a constructive purpose for me. I enjoyed sharing information and tips about being an ALJ, but it has recently and repeatedly became a war of words with NON-ALJs as they believe they know more about the job than an actual ALJ. And the random censorship between adult attorneys no longer works for me, so as the saying goes, if you don't like it, move on down the road. (I don't think that's a saying...but you get the point !)
This board serves a great purpose for a lot of folks and I will continue to feed "inside intel" to Gary and Gaiden, so long as they email me at my address. (Funky and Hilltopper can give you my real name and email address if it disappears upon my deleting my account here in a few minutes.)
Best of Luck to everybody and congratulations once again for the February class!! IMHO, xsw23edc

Well that's a shame but thank you for all of the info and guidance you have provided to all of us following in your footsteps. I hope you will continue to guide us from afar.

oh please he'll lurk for a week then create a new account new name. That tab has been perpetually open in his browser for so long it can't go away. Its in his favorites. Don't fight internet explorer's recent page persuasive power. Don't be an ass.

Whether you agree with him on this issue or not Tiger contributed significantly to this Board long after he got the job. He posted information as well as contributing behind the scenes in ways that many of you don't know about. I will miss his insight, information, and his attempt to make a challenging process more clear.

Tiger and Kitty Law were great posters. The board won't be the same.

Goodbye Tiger. You will be missed. I still miss ALJFAQ, Gunner and DLOTS. Being a Lurker is not bad. I was once for over two years.

It seems that having a person who is candid suddenly saying,"heck no" to a board means something. Again, I'm super new to the board and all that, but I seriously doubt y'all try to intimidate folks out of here/there. I have to believe I am missing something... truly. Nevertheless, I am still so eager to learn about everybody's analysis of this shebang - so questionable for the bulk of us who are just hopeful or are married to the hopeful. Again, thanks for letting me on at all, but it sure does seem a detriment to anyone who might have insider knowledge. Just saying.

detriment meaning hint of some weird bashing, which I truly hope isn't the case

Tiger. As he was quick to remind us, he was one of the best of the best. He will be missed for however long he stays away.
When I read the Board, I remind myself to consider the source. I personally find that the ALJs who continue to participate (especially the admins), the insiders who do not and maybe won't ever wear the black robe (some of whom have been with the agency longer than many of the newly minted ALJs from the current register), the long-time outsiders who work so hard, and the others who inspire and entertain us with their comments and questions ALL have a role here.
I feel free to agree, disagree, or simply ignore. If I think something that is posted is not consistent with my observations or impressions, I may or may not comment, but I certainly don't assume I am right and the poster is wrong - just that our situations or perspectives are different. SSA is a diverse agency and not just the reality of an office or two. It's not like a lot of insiders (ALJs and others) have experience in a ton of offices. Some do, most don't. It's easy to fall into thinking that your daily reality is SOP throughout the agency. Maybe, maybe not.
This is a blog. It is what it is. People share and some level of disagreement is only to be expected. It does not mean the Board is a bad place. The truly offensive comments are moderated. Just ignore the rest and stick around. If you feel as if you have something to give or something to learn, I am interested in what you have to say.

In my humble opinion, based upon my very limited time as a member on this board and from an objective outsider standpoint, I believe that the valuable contributions from Tigerlaw;Funkyodar; Judgeratty; ladyluck2; and Pixie as actual ALJs (forgive my oversight in by name inclusion), as well as Gary and Gaidin who possess incredible knowledge and experience (and in God's time will soon be ALJs as well I am confident) should not be distilled or confused by the sophomoric opinions of those who do not possess the same degree of actual knowledge and experience. I can tell you that I was advised by highly knowledgeable and well-respected ALJs that there existed 2 ALJ discussion boards - 1 which appeared to be little more than a place for those nonselected to complain and argue ad nauseum about the process, etc.... and then there was THIS ONE -- which actually focused on the important, pertinent, and practical information beneficial to new applicants as we attempt to navigate the murky and tumultuous waters on our quest to achieve the ever elusive prize of becoming ALJ's... Initially, the distinction between the 2 boards was crystal clear -- in the last few days, I am troubled by the turn of events in which those with actual knowledge, experience, and insight who selflessly share with the masses are having their sage advice and guidance questioned or challenged by those who "believe" they "know and understand" and yet, at the end of the day, they remain non-ALJs who can merely speculate about what it "must be like to be an ALJ!" Honestly, I am a person of few words -- but when I feel compelled to speak up because a valuable resource may be in jeopardy, I cannot stand by in silence. I believe that every one of us has something valuable to contribute and am grateful to learn from everyone --that said, I have never been a fan of people voicing opinions or offering guidance about subject matter of which they have no expertise or actual knowledge. So, I apologize for reciting the Gettysburg Address to make my point which simply stated is "it is easy to talk the talk" and quite another to "walk the walk" -- my druthers if someone has to "get off the island" would be for those who have only opinion and conjecture and at the end of the day become irrelevant detractors ---well, I choose that they leave and head over to the other board and that the true MVPs remain solidly entrenched because we all stand to benefit from them if we have not already! Let us all maintain a commitment to preserving the value and integrity of this awesome board -- pinky swear! Thank you.
