I'm getting extremely concerned. I have not heard from any of my references that they were contacted.
I have speculated that maybe they do "credit check" first. I have spotless credit. However, I also signed up for "Lifelock" (is that the name) the service that advertises with the CEO exhibiting his SSN on the side of a van.
Recently I went to order new electrical service for an apartment, not my home, and when the utility company attempted to do the usual "credit check" they told me over the phone there was a "problem" and that I would have to post double the usual deposit. When I actually went to the utility office in person, I assume they ran it again, but don't know, and this time they charged me the normal deposit.
Apparently "Lifelock" does something whereby when someone tries to do a credit check, they are forced to go beyond just the usual first step.
Could the "reference" checkers have attempted to run a credit check, been stopped by Lifelock and stopped right there? Could this be why none of my references have been contacted?
I have a decent score, and thought I had a very strong Falls Church interview.
Am I being paranoid?
Ideas?

I have Lifelock also. i don't know if that interfered with running a credit check, but calls have been going to my references since the day after we were required to turn in the paperwork. One reference told me he sent back info yesterday, so I assume he received an email. From what I have read, I don't think that you should be concerned.

Latinlawyer, my references have not yet been checked nor has my credit been pulled. I contacted FC over a week ago and was told the background checks are still going on and not to worry. If we are estimating 260 interviewees and 200+ left over from the last go around, that's a whole lot of references to talk to in a fairly short period of time. But I have to admit, I'm getting a little nervous because May 18 is only two weeks away....

Some of my background check was still being done while I was at training last year.
