I know of two transfer offers made late last week. Until the agency has gotten this completed it cannot know what openings it will have.
Both of the offes involved a site that was on the list of sites sent to candidates.
I do not know why this was left to such a late date.

Which sites were involved (if you can share)?

Which sites were involved (if you can share)? Both in the South. 1 in region 4 and another in Region 6. I don't feel at liberty to reveal any more information on a public board. Both should open up a spot for candidates either this round or in the September hires (subject to transfer list obligations).

Does this group include a portion of the 157 ALJs who are the subject of the recent hiring initiative, or does this refer to an additional hiring initiative? Has a September date for additional hiring been confirmed? Do we know the scope of the September hiring initiative (i.e., how many)?

It is my memory, subject to revision that the "answers" or at least highly relevant posts, cite to the primary #, more than confirmed, of 157 in two weeks. The Sep. hire is allegedly to "backfill" declinations regarding the original 157 (which may be more than a few)--and add some "lower scorers" there--but I'm not clear if they plan to get to the 2008 # of approximately (jh knows for sure) 195. The "goal" of 200+ in 2010 is FY 2010 and could begin in Oct-Nov 2009, but it is likely somewhat later.

That is, are Region 4 and Region 6 gaining or losing ALJs?
