A very nice SSA personnel specialist, Mr. Graham, called my home, my primary number. I wasn't there and we got in contact via my cell phone as I was waiting for a flight many states from home. Frankly, I didn't wait for Mr. Graham to ask if I would accept or decline; I immediately accepted. The report date was 21 June, but I've submitted a request to report in July. I crossed off very few cities on the list of potential openings. I'm delighted to have been selected on my first go round, because I'm not sure I could go through all this again. Now I can tell the transportation office where the furniture is going ! And, like others, I think the wait has been harder on my family than me.

Did you get the call today (Saturday) or yesterday?

Professor,
CCJ started this thread to let us know of her offer last Friday.

I am surprised by the quick deadline for response. Aside from the amusing "we-waited-too-long-and-now-YOU-have-to-hurry" dynamic, I thought they historically gave up to a week, or at least three days, which I had ASSUMED were business days. I guess the weekend is technically "3 days," but it still surprises me.

I guess the weekend is technically "3 days," but it still surprises me. I got the call on a Friday in 2005 and was given until Monday to decide. Since my wife had never been to the city I was offered, I called her at work and after she got out of work, we drove to the city to check it out for the weekend. I called to accept on Monday. And then had around two months until the class started--hurry up and wait indeed.
