Well, based on the reports, it looks like they are clearly notifying the first reporting class first.

What about government employees versus private attorneys?

What about government employees versus private attorneys? I don't think we have any way of figuring that out, unless someone wants to make a poll, or unless someone has kept dossiers on the forum membership. Hmmmm...

Well, now it seems CLEAR that the June class is being called first.

I just pulled this off the ALJ Training Home Page...for what it is worth. I'm sitting here...and the only calls I'm getting are from my friends wondering if I've heard anything and the answer is no. UGH! But, I'm a Brady and Bradys never frown. Just ask Mike and Carol and Alice and Sam and Greg and Peter and Bobby and Cindy. Jan whined a lot from what I can recall...geeze...come to think of it maybe I should change my name to Jan Brady.
June 1, 2009 Welcome
Congratulations on your selection as an Administrative Law Judge! The attached information package outlines your dates of training, training location, and other useful information.
Training begins Monday,August 4, 2008, at 8:00 a.m. at the SSA Headquarters, East Low Rise, Rooms 11 and 12, 6401 Security Blvd., Baltimore, MD 21235. At that time, you will begin your 4-week orientation program, which will end on August 29, 2008, after which you will be expected to report to your permanent duty station on Monday, September 2.
A reservation has been made for those of you who currently reside more than 35 miles from Baltimore, MD for the nights of Sunday August 3rd through August 29th, at the Residence Inn – Inner Harbor, 17 Light Street, Baltimore, MD 21202. Each participant will shortly be provided a confirmation number for the hotel in an e-mail from the Division of Training and Employee Development which you must present with the government credit card when you arrive at the hotel to check-in.
If you live within 35 miles of Baltimore, we are asking that you commute to the orientation session each day since overnight stay is not authorized.
Again, I congratulate you on your appointment and I look forward to meeting you on August 4th.

I feel like a total idiot...the dates in that Welcome message are for 2008!!! I didn't even realize that until I read my own post! Maybe I didn't notice...it still feels like 2008...this had been dragging on since then (at least for me).
Sorry for the bad post! My apologies.

Watching the city specific posts, it looks like those offices with the greatest backlog are getting the June Judges.......

Atlanta and Greenvile haven't gotten any yet, and Greenville is at the bottom!

I'm not sure what method they are using, but it isn't calling the government attorneys first. I know of one who's gotten a call, who had a middlin' score (less than mine) and another who had a zowie-wowie score (85+) who hasn't yet gotten a call. I haven't gotten a call and had a fair score of 73+, but with a fairly restricted geographical preference scaled down to five offices--all of whom had vacancies. So, it ain't us guvment lawyers gettin any preference.

I am consoling myself with the thoughts that (a) they are notifying first the June 22 reporting group and (b) given the short time frame between now and June 22, I would much prefer to be in the second (later) group. So, while an end to the uncertainty would do wonders for my blood pressure, the lack of an offer thus far may actually be a blessing in disguise, rather than a portent of things to come.

I have also noticed that I haven't seen more than one offer to any location. Could it be that the locations with 2 positions open will stagger the new ALJ's starting dates?

Thanks, ssaer, I will adopt your philosophy. Meanwhile as I sit here "working" by the phone, I have taken four calls from telemarketers calling from Maryland, Virginia and 800 numbers.

I must have missed that second Johnstown PA offer. Oh well, another potential theory blown!
Tomorrow is another day to stare at the phone a pray that it rings.
