Once a position is offered and accepted, is the ALJ subject to a probationary period?

No, once they swear you in, they can't get rid of you without going through the disciplinary process with the Merit Systems Protection Board.

When exactly does the swearin occur? I'm going through this mountain of information they want me to read and fill out. Doesn't really give a lot of specifics.

It could vary - your HOCALJ may swear you in at the office or you may be sworn in at training.

I was sworn in both places. It really should be more of a 'commissioning' in DC since legally we will be practicing judges for 2 weeks before we even get to training.

Good point. It was kind of hard trying to balance only on my two left ones while raising the right ones.
