I haven't been on here in a while, so this may have been covered.
Where can I get a lace or other type of collar for my robe?
I don't like to wear shirts/dresses close to my neck, so my robe is now rubbing against my neck. To avoid "ring around the robe" I would like get a thingyey or a collar to help me out. I'm not talking the fancy schmancy thing Sotomayor wore, but smaller, more like Judge Judy. I haven't been successful with Google as of yet so perhaps some of you women ALJs (or anyone!) can help me out.
Thanks all.

Thank you very much! Before I saw your response, I just bought some collar dickies from Blair online. I can't believe I bought from Blair. That's where my Mom used to buy from when she was in her 70s.

I can't believe that they changed what I said to "thingyies". My goodness, a person can't say what they really are? Well, I meant an item that is the nickname for Richard, follied by "ies". What strange censorship.

Well it is certain that the "robe" issue has come full circle.

Robes are not mandated, but check your office custom. In a great number of offices, all or most do wear robes.

I got a robe with the little black piping around the sleeves and the V-neck, which has felt really good. We say "thingies" down here in the South.

Thank you very much! Before I saw your response, I just bought some collar thingyies from Blair online. I can't believe I bought from Blair. That's where my Mom used to buy from when she was in her 70s. Not Blair, the home of all manner of out-of-date clothing and accessories commonly seen at the nursing home! My mother used to buy Dad his favorite side zip, square toe, ankle boots from Blair well over 20 years after those suckers were last seen in a mainstream store. They also sell the lovely floral cotton, front zip "house coats" in scary colors such as were worn by most of the housewives with scuffy slippers all day well into the 70s in my neighborhood. Ah Testtaker, I'm feeling your pain. No really. Do what you must to get through a hearing week. Bless your heart. ;D I'm kind of amazed at some of the odd things that I've had to do in order to get through the day in our hearing rooms with the erratic temperature controls, smelly claimants, non-dialing phones, frozen computers holding our exhibits hostage, dangling electrical wires and abused chairs (old hydraulics making fart-like noises randomly during hearings unless one sits just right). Just call me Judge McGuyver please because to quote Tim Gunn from Project Runway, we have got to "make it work." In addition to my CFR, benchbook and robe I have hauled Lysol, tissues, paper towels, hand sanitizer, duct tape and an assortment of other unusual supplies to the hearing rooms over the past year. They should have covered at training how to maintain one's judicial demeanor when everyone is looking around the room trying to figure out if someone just ripped a big one! I finally began to roll my office chair down to the hearing room so that I could relax a smidge without disrupting the flow of the hearing. Having to order from Blair before age 70 pales in comparison to the humiliation of having a claimant eyeballing you and clearly wondering if you feasted on beans for lunch. Wear your *ickie proudly sister!
