Sent in my paperwork Friday and my references were all contacted today. That was fast! hrhearingofficer: At this stage, what references are you directed to provide? He or she is way ahead of your 'stage'. Stay tuned to these channels for further chapters of The Gauntlet.

By the very nature of this forum, most of those who seek information here seek it from those who are stages ahead of us. I don't see the need for snarky comments such as yours, privateatty. But if it makes you feel better . . .

I'm thinking it is most likely the individuals listed on the personal history form (3 judges, 3 adversaries, 3 professional/personal). But I'm just guessing here,

If you don't have adversarial attorney references, the instructions say " you may include others who can attest to your ethical and professional conduct."

Has anyone ever heard of someone being given a choice of offices from those on their GAL?

Does anyone know how long the interviewing process will take and when offers will be made?
Can anyone confirm or refute that only 25 positions will be filled?

According to the poll only 5 out of 38 responding have not been interviewed, so shouldn't take all that long, especially if training is just around the corner in July.

I am quite certain (i know, what does that mean) that class is limited to 25 to 30. The training is scheduled for July as stated, and trainers are in place already from what I heard.

In the past, statistically, our polls have reflected about 1/3 of the total numbers. Therefore if our numbers are showing 38-40, there are probably close to 120 applicants and maybe 15 that haven't been interviewed..

Anyone care to speculate about when offers might be made? Does anyone know how much time there usually is between offer and report to duty? Does anyone know if the training is scheduled to begin in the beginning, middle or end of July?

No, they refer three times or more than will be selected for the Cert. Ie., hiring 30, request 90 for the Cert. Now, once on the Cert you and 10 others may have the same city. They usually take the three highest scores per city and consider which one to hire. So if you have 6 cities and 10 others also have one of those six, you may not make the top three for consideration on any of them, or you may.. It's a lottery and don't quit your day job.. Almost all cities will have multiple people that have put them on their GAL. Just remember the number of people that have said they went with a wide open GAL. If 10 people did that, then there are at least 10 people for each city, not including ones that put that city in particular.. Seems to me we forget that many of the cities on the certs are filled by transfers. So even if it's listed, no one on the cert may be chosen to fill the spot. That is especially the case with the most desirable sites. If this isn't so...if I have misunderstood in the past...please let me know.

Does SSA only process transfer requests when it anticipates requesting a certificate? Also, going through an old thread which directed me to the OPM site, I see 103K as the starting salary for a 3A, however the 2012 Locality Rates of Pay indicate 118K for "rest of U.S." Just curious as to what the difference might be.

The link to the locality pay chart for ALJs has been posted here several times--perhaps a search will turn it up, or it might be in one of the pinned topics at the top of the forum page.
