Put down as many sites as you can stomach. Expect to have to stay there 2 or more years. don't put a place you will hate, but your preconceptions may be totally wrong. If you only want D.C. then you will have a better chance somewhere other than ODAR.
There are lots of acceptable places to live in the U.S. If you have to limit yourself, do so; but don't do this unless it is vital.

chris stated: "The SI was, as others have stated, odd." Amen. My mother always repeated the bromide that if you have nothing nice to say, say nothing. Wow- did they say something negative to you?? What happened?

Cold, distant, disinterested, bored, verging on rude.
I've heard some others had the same experience. Hard to say whether it was a calculated attitude to judge how you deal with stress or just a bored panel.

If there is any more discussion about the interview process, please start a new thread; we need to keep on topic. This topic is Transfer List and Sites. Thanx, Pix.

odarite states: >>> And if ODAR doesn't know us and/or our experience is before another agency, will that matter one iota to them? It will probably be considered, but carry only limited weight. There is a difference of opinion about the value of ODAR specific experience. Some managers value it highly because the new hire can hit the ground running. Others feel that they have too little trial experience. Lots of new hires are very new to Social Security law. Most adjust quickly, especially if paired with a good clerk or writer. Others never seem to get it. Almost all jobs are the same way except it is hard to get rid of the mistakes in ALJ hiring. The mistakes become the poster-children examples of what is wrong with the system. You will probably never be able to determine whether your specific experience or lack of it made any direct bearing on your selection. It will be thumbs up or thumbs down, no explanation, no excuses. All you can really do at this point is to get every point you can before the certificate is generated.

******This thread is for questions and answers about Transfer Lists and Sites.******
Please don't comment on miscellaneous statements made on different topics. Start a new topic. The reason is this thread is going to be too long even by itself, and will be difficult enough to wade through without the additional comments not on topic.
Unfortunately, ProBoards doesn't have a feature that allows the moderators to start a new thread and then place posts under the proper thread. The only option is to delete the posts that are off topic, which is not a good option. When the thread starts getting long, that is probably what we will have to do, in order to make it more manageable.
I could be wrong and this thread may taper off to almost nothing in a few days, but my experience tells me differently. Pix.

Has anybody asked about Kansas City already? If it's been answered, sorry, I've missed it. Thanks to all of you "in the know." Your assistance is invaluable. Those of us completely outside of the agency wouldn't have anybody to talk to if it weren't for all of you!
Thanks again!

yes, it has been answered before, but because despite our cautionary comments we are all very nice to the posters here, I will repeat. One in, none out. And since Region 6 is facing rising receipts and is battling R5 for the title of worst backlog, there may be openings in KC. 'Course, I have no clue if KC has ROOM for more ALJs, but there you are.

Someone told me that Kansas City is in an older building with little space. If that's true, that may be a factor.
