I would like to encourage members to vote "no" on this proposition. There is nothing about registering that will cause more discussion on the site. You are not required to participate in you are a member. The only reason for such a restriction is to document who has access to this information. So far I have read two reasons to vote no. Convenience and privacy. I understand both. I use an Ipad when not at home. For some reason I can not get the Ipad to keep me signed in. Then I have to remember my password and sign in just so I can see if there is any news on testing. A slight irritation. But the issue of privacy should be more important to people. When I appealed being three striked a couple years back the government questioned the timeliness of my appeal. In actual hearing pleadings, the government asserted that I should have known that I was not selected (even though I never received an email notice) because it this board provided information that all offers had went out. Since I probably read the board, I should have known that if I had not received an offer, then I had not been selected and the time for an appeal should begin. Yes! I know! What lawyer would make such an absurd argument? But it happened. It doesn't take a giant stretch of imagination to see big brother issuing a subpoena for records obtaining the identify of all members. And then, records of which threads you had clicked on. It obviously doesn't effect me since I am a member. But I certainly respect the concerns of those who may wish to simply view as guests or without signing in. PLEASE VOTE "NO".

Don't let paranoia set in. There is no conspiracy to determine someone's identity, because if one wanted to really track you one could, by you visiting a site with your computer (IP address) without need for your email address, etc and find out your identity. Nobody is out to get you or track what you say. Feel free to vote any way you want, but there is no conspiracy to find out identities or track individuals. Reallawyer you are just a little paranoid or attempting to spread paranoia. Please don't attempt to create issues when they don't exist.

Possibly just bringing awareness to this issue may prompt more participation - I'm typically a 'lurker' and had no idea that further participation by 'lurkers' was wanted. Now that I know- I will participate more - do my part. Suggestion: ask for more participation and if that does not work move forward with more aggressive action such as proposed restriction.

So after restricting the board to members, is the next step deleting profiles for those that do not comment in 6 days? 6 weeks? 6 months? Even if it a less than quality post like this one? Participation cannot be forced, lurking is good, means the site has meaning. Some lurk becuase they do not want to be members in a digital age where all is verified. There is a difference between joing a group and reading about a group.

I really don't think ALJD meant to have this reaction! Chill people! The whole point of the board is to HELP everyone, there is no subversive big brother plan in action here. NO conspiracy. Way too much paranoia here, don't read that much into it. And all this started after I posted the general question about the statistics of how many people are on the board versus the overall pool of applicants. All I was doing was mulling over the thought that maybe we could get an idea of how many applied by using an analysis of sorts. I think it made ALJD think that it would be helpful to restrict to those registering to find out how many there are in the silent guest crowd....nothing more than that. But I also think that if there are so many people getting upset at the thought of any change .... maybe it isn't a good idea.

I think there is so much stress right now, maybe as a few others have mentioned....not a good time to change anything at all. At first I didn't think it would be an issue, but I am seeing a trend of folks that seem to be reacting (and maybe over-reacting) to any "forced" registration so to speak. And I sure hope this comment about the "over" reacting doesn't spur a whole spin off of comments from those people! I don't mean any harm here. But I can sense the stress level increasing with the last few posts.
