Okay, I've been shot down. Again. Fortunately, it happens often enough that I'm pretty capable of dealing with it. Best of luck to those moving on. I hope it's not deemed too far off topic for me to ask: Would any board members be able to share information on job opportunities as an AA or SAA? Are such openings listed on USAJOBS, or is there some other announcement area? What sort of salary ranges do they offer, and is there the ability to move around to different geographical offices once within the system? Is there some similar forum to this board for AA or SAA information? Paddling on, hopefully not against the current...thanks in advance for any information.

While I made it through I am curious about this as well. I have friends who were not so lucky.

Some postings have been on USAjobs, others have been elsewhere. I know for a fact that the last hiring in our office were the result of individuals who sent in their resumes directly to the HOD (Hearing Office Director). SAA positions are strictly for those that have been AAs for at least a year and move to that position only when there is an opening and it is not guaranteed. The range in salary depends upon entrance experience and is on a scale. I came in as a GS 12 since I had prior experience, but there are those that come in much lower. The GS pay scale is on the OPM website and varies for different areas of the country. If I were in your shoes and wanted a position, I would submit a resume to the HOD in the city you are interested in and go from there. Of course, right now with sequestration etc. I do not know of any openings specifically, but USAjobs is a good place to start!
