Management received a request to specify the number of total hearing rooms, ALJ offices, ALJs, Senior ALJs, known approved transfers, and other similar details in preparation for the next round of hiring. I found it interesting they also asked for how many empty decision writer offices there are as well.
The exact wording of part of the email: "To accommodate an additional round of ALJ hiring later this year, HQ has requested the following space information for each office." (emphasis added). This is good news!
This is an indication preparations and planning is in the works for the next round. No word on anything else like when or how many. This is just the usual information gathering prior to movement on the next step. Not much, but thought I would pass it on! Have a great weekend folks!

Fiscal year or calendar year?

Fiscal year or calendar year? I don't know. The email came from my regional office, clearly from HQ to them to disseminate. And as quoted above it simply says "later this year." This current round of "hiring" is going to be accomplished by the fiscal end and we have all seen the guesses on timelines on start dates and classes. I am not sure where this new process fits into the mix. I guess technically the "hiring" on this new round could be accomplished by fiscal end, but that would be unprecedented since that would be a long notice period of start dates as it would be into the next fiscal when comparing dates on the current hiring round....so my guess based upon past practice this may be for the next fiscal but by the end of the calendar year. We do have a budget for next fiscal year as well, so I don't know. Was that vague and confusing enough? LOL!

I think you're right. Fiscal would be nearly impossible for the reasons you gave and because of the training room size limit.

I think it's huge for us second certer presumptives. It's the most definite word on when they might do a second cert that we've had and the timeframe is earlier than much of the speculation has had it. Great intel sratty!

Glad to share and hope all us second cert folks get to toast to survival at some some point! Keep the faith!

Dang... That means I need to get back on my diet... I thought I had at least until January. There's only one thing to do--suspend from the register until January because of their inconsiderate quickness.

Thanks Sr Atty. Fabulous news. Anyone have a peak at the schedule to see when the training is scheduled for? I know I'm putting the cart before the horse, but it is great to know we have forward movement for us second certers;)

Not a chance, Gary! If I have to interview in a paper bag, I'll do it! With or without eyeholes? With eyeholes, of course. You can't communicate effectively without eye contact.

Or you could go with a plain black muu muu. Or would that be presumptuous?

I'm in the same, boat, Anotherfed, so now, looking at my paper bag selection, I'm having a hard time deciding between Whole Foods, an ole Bloomies Big Brown Bag, a sleek black bag from a boutique.... oh, too many choices! I'm favoring going in with Big Brown Bag blazoned diagonally across my body, but that might be too revealing....

I like the black muumuu idea. As they say, "dress for the position to which you aspire."
