In 2014, we got hit with waves of spam posts from spammers located outside of U.S., which is a new occurrence.
During this period, Pix and I have wasted quite a bit of time deleting spam threads and banning spammers. So far, I think we have deleted over 300 threads and banned over 40 spammers. As our time is quite valuable, this is a very bad thing. It is quite annoying to wake up in the morning and see the forum defaced by a ton of spams hawking magic charms and other tasteless wares.
I have tried to figure out a way to prevent the spams from appearing in the first place, and the only hopeful solution available on Proboard is to turn off automatic registration approval. This solution has no impact on existing members. Only to folks who wants to register and participate on this forum from here on out.
Therefore, for my sanity as well as those of existing forum members who are tired of spams, new membership registration will now be reviewed by either Pix or I before final approval and the ability to post.
For prospective members, as a part of the registration process, there will now be a screen for you to type a message to us during registration. Please write a short (2-3 sentences) explanation about why you are interested in joining this forum so we have some assurance that you're a legal professional and not a spammer.
Additionally, if your IP address is from outside the U.S., please have a really good explanation as to why you are interested in ALJ hiring.
The bottom line is that we just don't want to deal with spams and spammers anymore.
Sorry for the inconvenience and thanks for your understanding.
