In the spirit of obsession for which I've become known, I propose a poll where we can all see which cities the most candidates have selected. The software can only handle 35 answers per poll, so this will be a three part poll (correction four part poll as I left Hattiesburg off the first three polls).
If you are a candidate please indicate those cities for which you are available.

Ya'll know I can't resist sorting the total list. As of midnight Eastern time here are the rankings from least selected to most selected. It'll be interesting to see how this changes tomorrow with more people entering their cities. As of midnight 32 people had voted in poll 1, 37 in poll 2, 27 in poll 3, and 12 in poll 4 (the first three polls are alphabetically sorted, while poll 4 is Hattiesburg).
Evansville, IN - 12 Hattiesburg, MS - 12 Tupelo, MS - 12 West Des Moines, IA - 12 Alexandria, LA - 13 Houston, TX - 13 Johnstown, PA - 13 Metairie, LA - 13 Milwaukee, WI - 13 Montgomery, AL - 13 Morgantown, WV - 13 New Orleans, LA - 13 Oak Park, MI - 13 Shreveport, LA - 13 Tulsa, OK - 13 Creve Coeur, MO - 14 Fargo, ND - 14 Flint, MI - 14 Fort Smith, AR - 14 Fort Worth, TX - 14 Fresno, CA - 14 Grand Rapids, MI - 14 Indianapolis, IN - 14 Minneapolis, MN - 14 Orland Park, IL - 14 Paducah, KY - 14 San Jose, CA - 14 Billings, MT - 15 Birmingham, AL - 15 Dayton, OH - 15 Huntington, WV - 15 Jackson, MS - 15 Los Angeles West, CA - 15 Mobile, AL - 15 Peoria, IL - 15 Sacramento, CA - 15 Salt Lake City, UT - 15 Wichita, KS - 15 Wilkes Barre, PA - 15 Charleston, WV - 16 Columbia, SC - 16 Dover, DE - 16 Downey, CA - 16 Harrisburg, PA - 16 Little Rock, AR - 16 Macon, GA - 16 Pittsburg, PA - 16 Spokane, WA - 16 Springfield, MO - 16 Cleveland, OH - 17 Louisville, KY - 17 New York, NY - 17 Queens, NY - 17 Seattle, WA - 17 Syracuse, NY - 17 Albany, NY - 18 Atlanta North, GA - 18 Atlanta, GA - 18 Columbus, OH - 18 Fort Lauderdale, FL - 18 Greenville, SC - 18 Knoxville, TN - 18 Newark, NJ - 18 Orlando, FL - 18 Charleston, SC - 19 Chattanooga, TN - 19 Cincinnati, OH - 19 Nashville, TN - 19 Tampa, FL - 19 Raleigh, NC - 20 Charlotte, NC - 21

Hmmm, I think this poll can cause anxiety to those of us with limited location choices. Seems lots of folks want to go where I want to go!

Remember that a number of people put down "all" locations. If you interviewed you are one in three somewhere.

That's a far more even distribution than I expected. My 14 spots are distributed throughout.

Remember that a number of people put down "all" locations. If you interviewed you are one in three somewhere. M'lord is right. You are one in three somewhere. I find it interesting that with less than 100 people responding to these polls, OCALJ already could satisfy the rule of three in any number of ways to reach whomever they consider to be the best candidates. (Looking back on this, I realize this may not be true if there are more than 5 vacancies in the least popular selection) One thing is clear, there will be no shortage of candidates willing to go to any of the cities. That being the case, it seems odd that no consideration of the candidates' preference is being considered other than yes/no. I would have liked the opportunity to rank the cities, but maybe that just adds too much complexity to an already difficult hiring decision? Oh the things I obsess on while we wait...

As of midnight 32 people had voted in poll 1, 37 in poll 2, 27 in poll 3, and 12 in poll 4 (the first three polls are alphabetically sorted, while poll 4 is Hattiesburg). Is it possible that the number differential reflects people who had no locations in a given poll not voting in it? I had at least one in each of the first three polls, so I did not try voting with none selected. Is that possible?

Propmaster,
If a candidate does not select any of the cities in a poll, they are not able to vote.

pm - you raise an interesting point, which in turn suggests the possibility that SSA will identify the top 150 candidates, and then in turn try to work with the geographical preferences in such a way that they capture as many of the top 150 as possible. This would fit with what one SSA person told me - we were interviewing for an ALJ position, not for a particular city.

Hopefully without offending Semipa (or with apologies, if so), I have updated the list as of 10:50am Central time today. I find it fascinating to watch the numbers move, even slightly, and even if they don't make any difference to the outcome of my/our applications.
So far, the voters in each poll are: Poll 1: 61 Poll 2: 71 Poll 3: 54 Poll 4: 29 and 13/47 people have indicated selecting all locations.
I have inserted a (-) or (+) for locations that have significantly moved in relation to their neighbors (not in accession order).
So here are today's rankings from least selected to most selected.
Evansville, IN - 19 Flint, MI - 20 Johnstown, PA - 20 Oak Park, MI - 20 Tupelo, MS - 20 West Des Moines, IA - 20 Fargo, ND - 21 Fresno, CA - 21 Grand Rapids, MI - 21 Milwaukee, WI - 21 New Orleans, LA - 21 Shreveport, LA - 21 Alexandria, LA - 22 Creve Coeur, MO - 22 Downey, CA - 22 Los Angeles West, CA - 22 Orland Park, IL - 22 Peoria, IL - 22 Queens, NY - 22 San Jose, CA - 22 Hattiesburg, MS - 23 Metairie, LA - 23 (+) Minneapolis, MN - 23 Montgomery, AL - 23 Billings, MT - 24 Dayton, OH - 24 Indianapolis, IN - 24 Morgantown, WV - 24 Newark, NJ - 24 Paducah, KY - 24 Syracuse, NY - 24 (-) Wilkes Barre, PA - 24 (-) Cleveland, OH - 25 Fort Smith, AR - 25 Harrisburg, PA - 25 Pittsburg, PA - 25 Sacramento, CA - 25 (+) Jackson, MS - 26 (+) New York, NY - 26 (+) Salt Lake City, UT - 26 Spokane, WA - 26 Springfield, MO - 26 (+) Tulsa, OK - 26 Albany, NY - 27 Houston, TX - 27 Charleston, WV - 27 Columbus, OH - 27 Dover, DE - 27 Columbia, SC - 28 Huntington, WV - 28 Wichita, KS - 28 Birmingham, AL - 29 (+) Fort Lauderdale, FL - 29 Little Rock, AR - 29 Macon, GA - 29 Mobile, AL - 29 (+) Cincinnati, OH - 30 (-) Greenville, SC - 30 (-) Orlando, FL - 30 Fort Worth, TX - 31 (+) Louisville, KY - 31 (-) Atlanta, GA - 32 Atlanta North, GA - 32 Seattle, WA - 32 Charleston, SC - 33 Chattanooga, TN - 33 Knoxville, TN - 33 Nashville, TN - 33 Tampa, FL - 33 Charlotte, NC - 37 Raleigh, NC - 37

This information would be even more interesting if we actually knew the locations with multiple openings.
I know this was attempted on a previous thread, but maybe ODAR folks who have this information about their own office could post it from their home computers on the Wild Wild West??
