I received the below PM this evening. I want to thank the folks who continue to keep in touch after they get hired and provide invaluable information.
"Just graduated today from falls church. Judge Allen indicated today that they requested a cert from OPM last Friday. Please feel free to share anonymously."

Thanks Gaidin (and thanks to your anonymous source!). Sounds like emails/calls may go out sometime next week.

This is my first time posting here. How does a new cert impact those who have already interviewed but have not yet received an offer? It seems that it would make the pool of eligible candidates larger, thus lessening the odds of someone who already interviewed of getting a position. Is this a correct analysis?

A lot of people on those new certs, likely even the majority, will be people who have already interviewed. It all depends on which cities are in play- it's a bit if a mysterious process. If there are some new cities we haven't seen in the first few rounds, there may be some new folks. Just because you have been interviewed already and not yet hired doesn't mean your turn isn't coming.

As I have seen from other posts on this board as well as personal experience, it can be quite nerve-wracking waiting for "the call."

Welcome to the Board, aljhopeful2! Look at past posts on the cert process. Unless a candidate is three-struck (where a candidate has been considered and rejected 3 times and ODAR asks OPM to omit that candidate from future certs), s/he will appear on all certs in the candidate's GAL for which s/he is qualified by NOR. People who have been on a cert, but not high enough to be in the top 3 to be considered, will move up the ranks in subsequent certs. So until there is a refresh of the Register with new candidates (and old candidates are permitted to revise their GALs), I think existing candidates have a better chance for getting hired as they move up the ladder. As you will see multiple times on this Board, be patient and breathe...marathon, not a sprint ... yada yada yada. And check into the Board for sanity checks and moral support.

So yesterday I celebrated my two year anniversary since hitting send by grilling steaks, lighting a fire in the fire pit, and drinking a few beers. It was pleasant but I hope I am not celebrating anniversary number 3 without the job. I am sure most of you feel the same way. I can say that in the last 2 years my life has been enriched by meeting even if only online many of the people on this board and I am glad to know you.

I can say that in the last 2 years my life has been enriched by meeting even if only online many of the people on this board and I am glad to know you. Gaidin, you, Scratty, Mizunderstood, Funky and Moopig's Dad have kept me going through the long, seemingly endless process. As an outsider, I would never have made it this far without this board, but I never post because I have nothing useful to add. I knew the moment Fla Tree Farm saw the Stetson in his Hampton Inn hotel room that a March start was not in the cards for me. That, and I had a cold when I interviewed and I sneezed during the interview, revolting the interviewers. When I received the "We regret to inform you" email this morning, I bolted to the board to make sure I had not been three-struck (which would be hard, since only one city on my GAL has ever been listed). And I was glad to have somewhere to go to see that other people were in the same situation. So to those of you who post regularly, know that the silent majority who just skulk and worry are grateful to you and all that you do to boost morale and bring information to those of us in the wilderness.

Welcome to the Board snowbird. We are glad you are here. Please don't feel you cannot chime in on an issue with a viewpoint. While some things are based upon "insider" information, others are just SWAG. So, you can feel free to post your SWAG just like the rest of us. I am glad you find our missives and posts helpful. Sometimes, I think we post to make ourselves feel better too. In this case, it is true that the email was not notice of 3 strikes or such (as SSA doesn't let you know that information directly), but just notice of SSA closing out the previous certs and opening up a brand new one soon. Good luck and welcome again to the Board snowbird.

And sometimes we just post because we are bored or want to move to the next level, much like this post.

Gaidin... what can I say.... doh... and thank you for dragging my comment from the incorrect conversation and showing me the light.... it's never felt better to be on a sinking ship with so many others deserving a seat on the only lifeboat : ) Your ship is sinking only if you believe it is. I have met Judges who have waited ten or more years during the Azdell litigation. For more recent history read hilltopper or philliesfan. The ALJ hiring process has changed dramatically of late and those who have made it to the SSA Interview are in the best shape, mathematically, of any past crop on the Register. The camraderie and support that this Board engenders is fed by optimism and hope. While we have all felt we were on a "sinking ship", maybe its better to focus on the ship moving forward rather than a perceived listing.. Gaidin, how do you post a YouTube video?
