Anyone have references checked for the October round? Any other movement after second interviews? I had second interview last week. References were checked last week as well.

Does anyone have insight on what exactly location negotiatable after selection actually means?

I received this as a PM. I told him what I thought, but what I think isn't definitive in IJ hiring. If you know, please post. Thanks, Pixie
"Hi I just wanted to send a private message which can either be posted anonymously the ij thread or answered if you happen to know. I recently had a second interview and had references requested. I was not told what locations I am in consideration for but the references stated their request all came from one acij - do you happen to know if that acij's location is a tip off as to the location I am being looked at? Or am I just making too much out of nothing?
Thank you"

Best wishes to everyone as we patiently wait for further info.

I got referred in October, but no interviews this time. I still think that means I should not reapply by today’s deadline, right? Since it’s not a “new” application. I feel like “need not reapply” leaves some wiggle room as to if we can reapply. Like, “you don’t have to,” but the next logical question is should we go ahead and do it anyway? And I’m not sure if it’s a “can’t hurt” deal, since the it might come off as not reading instructions if one does reapply.
Had I been interviewed, I would not reapply, and I guess I’ll just hang tight and hope my prior referral might still have me in the pile.
Kind of a bummer, since I’ve twice made it to the second interview stage…not sure where I went wrong this time.

Kind of a bummer, since I’ve twice made it to the second interview stage…not sure where I went wrong this time. Maybe it’s a location preference issue? I was referred last year, but no interview. This year, I got an interview. The only change between the two applications was a slight adjustment to my location preferences. I think the only reason that I would reapply to the new announcement (based on the instructions) was if there had been some sort of significant change in my location preferences or job qualifications (which I get is unlikely as it’s only been a couple months since the last posting). Of course I have no real idea what, if any, weight location preference is being given at this stage.

How long after the application deadline expired was it before you received notice of the referral?

Any news of offers going out? It has been three weeks since some second interviews. I know several people had references checked.

Hello all,
Hoping for some help here... As background, I first applied in February 2023, got the referral and after six months was advised that i was not considered. That said, I re-applied on December 13. On December 19 I was advised that I was not referred because I did not submit all required documents (i.e. resume, assessment questionnaire and writing sample).I followed the same exact procedure that I followed back in February when there were no issues. I have now several times reviewed my last application and there is nothing to suggest that what I sent was not received. Is anyone aware of what recourse I might have to get at least some kind of clarification as to what could possibly be the issue? What if there was a technical issue on the receiving end? Any ideas? Thank you.

If you look back over several years of posts here, you'll see that we have all been confounded or frustrated by one or another point in the process.
I don't think that there is an answer to the question, or if there is, no one knows, and even fewer will tell you what it is.
On edit, in reviewing your post, I'd go ahead and reapply if the application period is still open. You can add a cover letter just saying you are trying to comply with their last message. It won't annoy anyone

The information that I got during the interview process is that if I did not receive a tentative offer within 4 weeks of the second interview, that I likely was not selected and that I should try again. I had my second interview and references contacted about 5 weeks ago. I guess it is back to the application process. Has anyone heard of offers going out?

I had my second interview and references contacted about 5 weeks ago. I guess it is back to the application process. Has anyone heard of offers going out? The last two weeks don’t really count. No one does anything. Especially last week. Also, the “four weeks” is kind of a standard reply. After both of my second interviews, that’s what they said, too. I wasn’t hired, but I am pretty sure folks were given tentative offers after four weeks. I think you’re probably still in it, but you should always apply again to a posting that interests you (unless it says you don’t have to). I haven’t seen anything about tentative offers from the most recent set of interviews, but that doesn’t mean anything. I’m hoping my resume gets a second look with the December refresh group. Hoping in vain, probably.

That's great, congrats. Does anyone have an idea of how long it takes them to review the apps and send out those emails? I was referred, but I figure if I'm not emailed/called to 1st interview within a couple of weeks from now, I'm not going to be.

From a board member:
"I don’t want to post publicly at this point, but wanted to let the board know that phone calls with tentative IJ offers are going out. I received a phone call this morning."

Pixie Does anyone think that not hearing back about a tentative offer from the October posting this week indicates all selections have been made? Any thoughts?
