Just so people don't get concerned if they don't hear tomorrow, there is a major winter storm forecast for tomorrow in the DC area. Three inches of snow by wake-up time followed by up to a half inch of ice. If it comes close to that I expect government offices to be somewhat empty. Excellent point, Chinook. If anyone outside of DC is wondering, you can check the OPM website tomorrow about the operating status in the DC area. A two-hour delay or liberal leave policy might be enough to postpone calls until next week, as many workers may not want to brave icy conditions. So if the forecast holds, I guess I'll prepare to curl up in my den for another weekend of hibernating ... with dreams of phone calls dancing in my head. Boo Boo

FYI -- from www.opm.govFederal agencies in the Washington, DC, area are OPEN under an UNSCHEDULED LEAVE policy. This Means . . . Employees who cannot report for work may request unscheduled leave for their entire scheduled workday. Employees must notify their supervisors of their intent to take unscheduled leave. Emergency employees are expected to report for work on time. Posted on February 22, 2008 at 4:17 AM
