This probably should be in the AM thread, but despite my best attempt at using the search forum bar, I was unable to locate it, so this post is going here. Pixie, feel free to move it, but please hold off the lighting bolts, because I really looked for that cursed thread first.
I spent some time on reddit today, unrelated to gamestop and wallstreet. reddit apparently has a section on USAJobs. (who knew?).
From what I could tell there, USAJobs underwent a significant under the hood update about two weeks ago. One of the updates was the change of the old "Application received not referred, referred, selected" status system to a new system that uses "Accepting Applications" identifying that a job is open; "Reviewing applications" the opening is now closed, and the agency is [allegedly] reviewing reapplications; "Hiring is complete" meaning hiring is completed and the position is filled, and final forth status "Job canceled" the agency withdrew the announcement and did not hire anyone.
The thread also shed some light on how those changes occur. Per what I gathered from the threads, HR in the agency is supposed to go into the Agency side of USAJobs and update the status. Under the old system that meant individually indicating an application that was "referred" or "selected." There may be a way to do it in batches, but certainly not for the "selected" individuals.
Under the new system, only the job status itself has to be modified by the agency HR person as compared to the individual application under the old system. This is a lot easiser for HR, but provides a lot less clarity (if that can even be said for USAJobs) to the applier.
Like Joy above there were a lot of reported glitches. One individual stated that they had been hired for a COVID related NTE position, worked the position, the position ended, and now the job listing's USAJobs status was "reviewing applications" (which would indicate that the position was not open for new applications but had not made a decision). It seems that most of the positions went to the "reviewing application" status, perhaps even as a default when the system was implemented. There were also lots of other posters who had various other problems. (More than one poster reported being hired and waiting for onboarding but the job status reads "reviewing application.")
So what does all of this mean for the April 2019 opening. Well we know the following:
1. The application for those previously on the register at the time was open for 34ish positions in April 2019 and closed thereafter;
2. We know that 150ish people were interviewed;
3. A hiring freeze was implemented;
4. We have (to my knowledge) received no reports of anyone being hired from the April 2019 opening.
5. No FOAD letters related to the April 2019 opening have been sent.
With that information and the "hiring complete status" indicated in USAJobs either
1. Someone really was hired from the opening, and we just don't know about it. (Unlikely);
2. The HR person meant to click "Job Closed" (job withdrawn); (possible)
3. Or there is really no way to tell what is happening at the agency level from USAJobs; (most probable).
Again, please move this where ever it is most logical. I looked for that cursed thread and could not find it.
