I think they (SSA) got ahead of themselves with the press release after a SNAFU caused them to reshuffle the board. If the original plan of making offers beginning 2/25 was correct, then the press release on 2/26 makes sense. But since it appears no offers were made before the press release, something had to be done before the CoSS appears today in a Congressional subcommittee. Thus one offer was made yesterday and he can truthfully say offers have begun. Maybe AAA fit Wichita without causing any ripples in the other locations. That way they could make the offer before the CoSS testimony. The rest of us have to wait for them to reconstruct the board, assuming that was the problem.

I know I am stating the obvious, but this is a complicated process. It is not just a matter of selecting 144 people. Everytime someone accepts a position, it changes the dynamics of the board. A person with a high score maybe at the top of many locations. Once they accept, they move off the other locations and others move to the top. Then there are other factors such as the results of the background/reference checks and the interviews. Vet preference scores also have to be considered. I would expect it to be a somewhat slow process, since the board changes everytime someone accepts a position. Plus, the more people there are making calls or sending out e-mails, the more confusing it gets. Everyone has to know what the other is doing and who has accepted. I am sure it will pick up speed, but it will take several days or more.
