Congratulations to all who received offers (and to those of you who will receive them shortly, including the stragglers as the declinations are processed). (It ain't over til it's over.) Once that is done, SSA can ask for a new certificate for the 30-some slots left to fill (the 25 slots mentioned earlier, the 6 not offered this time, plus any declinations that are not able to be filled this time.) Then many of you will get the next bite at the apple. I have heard that the training class for that group has already been scheduled with a report date in mid-July, so I expect that to happen fast. Hold on to your hats!

I have no knowledge whatsoever if they have all gone out. Since they are emailing, it is possible, but then again...

The Cubs always are in first place this time of year Congrats to all who made it and I look forward to seeing one of you in our office soon! As a Cubs fan I suppose I am used to disappointment But I cannot complain and overall I am surprised I got as far as I did. I am at ODAR, my job is secure, I did not have to sneak around or risk getting fired to apply, and I am only 38, and have some years ahead of me to try again and get a few more years on the old experience meter. Unless someone gave me dog year credit for doing litigation in Chicago, that could explain a lot. ;D Believe me, I have seen worse things than not getting a job, much worse things. Congratulations all! Trust your attorney advisers and paralegals

I agree with lawdog98--new ALJs trust your attorney advisors, they know the law and can help you!! And yes, Lawdog98--I am used to disappointment having watched the Cubs implode in a variety of ways since 1969. But remember, just wait until next year!!! We will shine in 2009. Apologies to E. Banks. ;D

". . .used to disappointment" ?? Lawdog98, I hope you are referring to the Cubs and not the new ALJ coming to your office!!! At age 38 you've now learned that "youth and skill" can be overcome by "old age and treachery" or whatever that saying is. You will most certainly get there, don't worry; just let us old guys have our moment and then get out of your way! You did well!

No I am referring to the Cubs. Our office needs judges here as two transferred out who were both productive and our area has many applicants waiting. But we are making good progress on that and hope to do even more before the end of September. ;D

I send my hearty congratulations to all who were selected! It's been quite a ride and I've learned a lot from reading the posts along the way. I hope the new ALJs will continue to stop by this board and post updates.

I plan to continue to contribute and learn from the board. We can all help one another as we have in the past.

Congratulations to all who were selected. My office is not getting anyone from this cert, so I don't know when or if I will meet any of you in person, but I wish all of you well.
I hope that you have fun meeting each other in training and putting faces to the screennames. When I was hired there was nothing like this board. There was the old ssas.com message board. You didn't have to register screen names on that board, and ALJ candidates were a small subgroup of a board primarily devoted to private practitioners. Some of us who posted there regularly introduced ourselves to each other at training, but there were only a few of us. Now, with dozens of you, making the face to face acquaintances should be fun.
I hope you enjoy your time in training and your new job. Sincerely, RUonthe List
